We were recommended this restaurant by our Italian hosts. It definitely didn't disappoint! After wandering around Amelia's gorgeous medieval streets, we spotted the sign pointing down a little alleyway. We followed another sign through a doorway into a typical medieval wall-like building flanking the little streets. we were warmly welcomed by the owner- an quirky, awesome man who thinks nothing... If you visit Amelia, do have dinner here. The food was wonderful and the setting is lovely. It is family run and we felt like part of the family.

La Locanda's premises are in a vaulted cellar like set of rooms, with actual ancient roman wall parts and a roman street protected by glass. Very suggestive. The food is mainly seafood, very fresh and a mixture of Umbrian and Sicilian cuisines with a twist. Quite good. Attentive service. If in Amelia, not to be missed.

Lovely setting and lovely staff and equally the food is outstanding. What lets it down is the small portions which are so small as to leave you very hungry afterwards. The only solution is to order several courses but this makes the price astronomical; certainly we as a family of 5 couldn't afford to do this but leaving the restaurant... More

This was the second time we had eaten at this restaurant. The food is very good. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered what he suggested and it didn't disappoint. The local Umbrian antipasti were delicious and it's a very generous portion.....you only need one between two.... For the main course we had the boar which was also... More

Lovely restaurant, nice atmosphere, fabulous food... and craft local beers were a nice surprise as well. The owner is relaxed and welcoming, a genuinely nice guy, speaks great near perfect English as well. Easy to see why this is so highly rated, and will definitely be coming back another night this week to work our way along the menu.

We went together as a family today for dinner at the number 1 rated restaurant in Amelia. We were all excited to be wowed as we were yesterday at a very low key restaurant in town. The service was friendly and good , no doubt about that . The appetizer was the Sicilian platter which was spot on delicious .... More

Lovely cavernous place. Excellent carpaccio. Good service. The Roman ruins are revealed below the floor, a section of which is glass.

We chose this restaurant for our first night in Italy and after reading how good the food is in Italy this place did not disappoint. The food was to a high standard and we got to experience Italian food how the Italians do, in a relaxed manner not rushed through our courses like we are in the UK. Although we... More

My family of four including 2 children(9&12) visited the cute town of Amelia. We parked just outside the thick walls, and were very hungry in search of lunch. I happened to turn down a alley and 'discovered' this wonderful restaurant. Cute, romantic interior, we were greeted and well taken care of by the charming owner. Their food is fresh with... More
