This place is simply amazing. We heard they did some minor renovations so we booked a table for 3 by the window overlooking the bay. Although the place looks old from the outside, they re-did the inside and look amazing. The service was great and very friendly. They are a family-run business so we were served by the nephew of the owner. Our meals were simply amazing. The freshness of the products, the presentation, and the balance of the ingredients, it was perfect. We finished the evening looking at the sunset over the bay while eating Elga (the grandmother)'s desert recipe which was simply amazing. This place is a must if you're looking for a great culinary experience on the North Shore of New-Brunswick

Fabulous in every way! From the view, to the decor, to the service, to all the staff, and of course, the scrumptious food. Kudos to Sophie for putting up with the sometimes raucous group of five that we were. This is the Maritimes folks. What you may find “kitschy”, we consider upscale! Remember that when you look around. The view of our magnificient Baie de Chaleur more than makes up for any shortcomings “big city” folks might be listing in their heads upon visiting this restaurant. Let the entrees and appetizers speak for themselves. A MUST-VISIT on your summer list.

This was the 3rd trip to this Lodge. At first glance it might seem a bit rundown because of the building that you see as you drive in. It is a old building used for storage. But the rooms have been renovated. The sunset honeymoon suite with the jacuzzi right in front of the ocean is wonderful. Especially if travelling with a large group would recommend sunset 1,2,3, It is like having your own cottage with everyone having their space. The food was amazing. Anything seafood is worth having. The service second to none Highly recommend!

Staying at the Lodge we had a dinner in the restaurant - coming from Germany we had our first Lobster ever at a fair price and help to handle it - even the wine fitted! And the sight is gorgious! Table with bay-view in the evening - sunset experience!

Very nice stay at this hotel. The room are high quality and the food was amazing. I stayed for 3 days for business. One more advantage: everything around is nice and trendy.

The first time I was here was in 1965 - we stayed in the Bide-A-Wee cottage and there was no indoor plumbing back then! We used a chamber pot at night so we did not have to use the out-house! The cottage is much more comfy now but the most important things have not changed - the scenery, the salty air, the sound of the waves and the evening breezes (east wind) through the pines - the sunsets over the water - all still perfect! We were here in May and are going back soon. The staff are like family. The food is good and they serve the best breakfasts - ever!!

We went for supper at the Bonaventure Lodge. The food was fantastic, the reception was great. What a nice way to end the day. We came across the bay on boat from the Québec side. The only thing is that we couldn't stay later, but overall, a really nice dining experience. We will definitely go back next year.

I have to be honest, I've been here three times in the last two weeks! My three plates where outstanding, and so was my husbands. You have to realize that this is an old old establishment that could use some sprucing up, but get over it! The food is delish and the prices can not be beat on fresh seafood! I highly recommend the "sole gourmet "!!! We shared an appi, two main courses, and a bottle of wine under 95$!

Been going to the Bonaventure Lodge seems like forever. In fact, held our wedding reception there 47 years ago. Rustic, yes, and that's part of the charm...The view of the Bay of Chaleurs worth a million. We are regulars at this place. Must admit the food quality had gone down in the past few years. However, dined there for our anniversary.on July 29.and WOW.....It was beyond awesome. Our daughter was with us and she went back a few nights later with her husband just home on holidays. He is a gourmet eater, and was blown over by the quality of the food. A hidden gem in this area. Everyone should have this wonderful experience at least once every summer. Already planning our next treat.....

I went to this restaurant with 3 friends this weekend. Upon arrival, one could see that the building is old and in dire need of repair. While the view is spectacular, the food is anything but. Three of us has lobster which taste like mould. The rice was plain white rice, no seasonings and the shrimp was simply peel and eat shrimp. Other plate was simply deep fried battered seafood with so seasoning and frenc fries. Very boring and very disappointing. The building is in such poor shape that the floor has a definate slope towards the water and the bathroom door in the ladies room will not close and stays open at least 2 inches. This may have been a great restaurant in its time, however, in our opinion, that is not the case now. Save your money and eat elsewhere. This place should be closed down.

I am from this area of NB, we called it New Mills but it may be called Charlo now, although it is not in Charlo, but in New MIlls. The Bonaventure is rustic, to be sure, not all the frills you would see in most hotels, but the price is right. Then you go for a meal and this is where it all changes; wow, you are seated in an enclosed veranda sitting on a rock cliff over the actual ocean. The view is 180 degrees of pure pleasure. Food is mostly German and is very good also. All in all it is about the best experience you can have for this price! Enjoy and let me know, I go each year and will be there again soon! Can't wait!!!!
