You will enjoy the food as well as the location. Must visit if you are in bhimtal or surrounding areas.
This Cafe is located in Mehragaon. About 6 km/15 minutes of drive from the Bhimtal Lake. To reach there you need to reach a checkpoint with car(you can call them for directions, my suggestion is better do!) and after a point you'll have to walk...about 15 minutes uphill trek. It's not a difficult trek, but conscious of age, be sure you tell all people going with you to wear something that allows you to walk uphill comfortably, preferably full length bottoms and shoes! After reaching there, we met the most friendly and courteous staff! A beautiful greeting and then we entered the cafe, attaching pictures below for references. The cafe has been strategically well placed for astounding views from all directions - added some pictures of different views too. The food structure is a buffet, it's a per person priced plate place. We went in July, 2021, vary of covid there were slots to pre-book for 2 hours and then go, so my recommendation is definitely to confirm on reservation(Pre/Post-Coivd)! (Or, you don't want to go far and trek uphill to be said 'we are booked' errr. The thali had many regional- seasonal delicacies to indulge in! They serve Non-Veg too, however, we were majority Vegetarians, so we didn't get a chance to try it. Being authentic to Kumaon cuisine and very off-beat for someone new to the place and food type. Overall, it's a definite go if you are in that area. To add on, the cafe is pet friendly.More
Been coming to the cafe since it was just a piece of land , seen jaws build up the same inch by inch ,had not seen a more passionate human than him to work on any project and KFC was his life. The traditional is...carried on by the able Kamal and the village gang and the food is absolutely out of the world. To be honest KFC spoils us to am extent that nowhere else can u then enjoy a kumaoni thaali and that's gauranteed . Do drop in for the lovely food , the ambience , the dogs, the view , the frest air and so so much more , u will be engulfed in Jaws Aura and beautiful legacy he has left behindMore
The Kumaoni Thali is amazing and since it's located on a hilltop, the views are breathtaking! It is recommended to take an SUV as the road is steep but there are parking points from where one can walk 200 to 500 m.
They serve awesome delicious kumaoni food. Mr kamla n their team was great host . Every dish are special for us... We loved so much
A must do experience starting from the ride to the cafe, the lovely view, the welcome chai, to the perfect Kumaoni meal. I must complement both the owner and the manager in getting the proposition right. A special mention for the warmth and the hospitality...etiquettes.More
Any visit to Bhimtal must include a lunch at this unique cafe managed on behalf of the owners by Kamlesh who is extremely proactive and leaves no stone unturned. The walk up adds to the charm, the views are just spectacular, the food is delightful...and the entire ambience makes it an unforgettable experience. Mr Kamath, who has had an untimely death seems to be missed by all in the team, which goes to show how he has made them a part of the family. Thank you to the team and to Mrs Kamath for adjusting us last minute and the delightful experience.More
The best kumaoni food you will taste ever with a breathtaking view ❤️ Kumaoni raita , bhaag ki chutney , kheer , veg kebab. Each and every item was max yummy . Kudos to Jaws and the ppl for the place and their warm hospitality.
Delicious food and beautiful location apart, the Kumaoni Farm Café stands apart from other wannabes. Make a booking- they only cook and serve on request for you. It’s a steep climb up and if you are unable to do that make sure to let ‘Jaws’...know so he can pick you up in his 4 wheel drive. The cafe has a charming, rural laid back ambience. It takes a minute to see how meticulously and lovingly the ‘laid back’ has been created for you. The only word for the food is outstanding. It’s largely vegetarian but they will make a non vegetarian dish for you as an extra if you want. The meal is served thali style. The taste is distinctive. You get a local dal ( Semi) a smoky mustardy pahadi raita, 3 delicious vegetables cooked with a light authentic touch and farm produced. A surprise kebab which I will keep a ‘surprise’ and only tell you that it can give any non vegetarian kebab a run for its money, a Bhang chutney plus one more chutney, rice, two kinds of roti including the local ‘madwa’ (ragi) ki roti and a desert. This costs you ₹900/- ( chicken is extra) Go without breakfast. You’ll come back stuffed. They feed you lovingly and will press yet another roti on you. KFC Is lunch only. Book ahead - is a great experience. Jaws talking you through your food experience - that’s a bonus if you’re luckyMore

The drive and the trek up to this beautiful space definitely adds to the experience. The food is delicious, and the staff extremely warm and welcoming. They have a set menu, and even though I have been there once before I didnt mind going back...again. The vegetable are fresh and the Badeel (masoor daal based snack) is absolutely to die for. Getting to the location can be tricky, our SUVs got stuck going uphill both times, which turned out to be an adventure, so be careful (still worth the drive up though). Had a brush with the owner unfortunately as the last time we couldn't keep to the time of the reservation (turns out paragliding takes time and people get sick) which made the experience a little discerning in hindsight, so keep enough time on your hands when you're planning to visit. So apart from this dampening the experience of the visit everything else was absolutely fantastic.More
Dear Antra, Thanks for your review and appreciate you taking out time to write. I am surprised though with comments about your SUVs getting stuck and "brush" you had with me. Our standard disclosure warns guests regarding the terrain leading upto the Cafe. And the...More
