The best mushroom soup we have ever had; deep flavour, piping hot and delicious garlicy pesto swirled in, served with garlic roasted ciabatta. Highly recommend and wish we lived closer so we could work our way through the evening menu!

We recently moved to this area and this is the favourite cafe by far. Lovely staff, and everything we've eaten has been delicious. Only criticism, not too keen on the music, so we sit in the beautiful garden.

We dropped in for a light lunch. Menu looked great, but we went for a sandwich, which was delicious, nicely dressed with salad and relish. Amazingly good value. lovely staff.

I was running out of snacks on my bike ride from Mapua to Motueka, and came across this wonderful cafe! It is a beautiful garden sanctuary and community, with an art gallery worth looking into. There are gluten free and vegan options (about 5 vegan options when I visited) I got two delicious flavourful salads with a carrot risotto croquette,... More

Stopped for lunch, absolutely amazing food. Rustic boho vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating among trees and flowers. Great service, friendly owners and staff. Be aware the iced chai tea is DECADENT with ice cream and caramels. Delicious.

Stopped for lunch on a very hot day. We had a table outside on the veranda in the shade. I had seafood chowder and it was one of the best chowder's I have ever had, which was served with crusty bread yum. Very good service and friendly staff. They had a cactus garden out the back and had plants for... More

Eight of us cyclists stopped for lunch during the week. Bike rack at the gate and p,entry of tables to choose fro. We sat on the back patio under cover looking out to the cactus and bonsai garden. Our food was ordered inside at the small counter. Staff were cheerful and helpful. The cheese scone was cheesy and peppery, hot... More

5 of us had an excellent lunch to celebrate a birthday. 3 had the special, sirloin steak 'sandwich', and although no steak knife was provided they had no trouble cutting the meat with an ordinary table knife. It came with bacon, mushrooms & tomato in a stack and all said how tasty it was. I had the vegetarian quiche which... More

We stopped here for lunch. I had the chicken mushroom leek pie which comes with salad. It was so tasty and was had been freshly made. The salad was also yummo + seemed like the lettuce + salad ingredients had just been freshly picked from garden. My hub had chowder and said was fab. This place is a must for... More

Winner of Wild Tomato magazine's best regional rural restaurant 2010 and recommended by both North and South and Cuisine magazines, Riverside Cafe is an integral part of the historic Riverside Community (est.1941). We serve fantastic fair-trade coffee, and a delicious selection of home made cakes, slices and our amazing brioche, with gluten free options always on offer. Our seasonal menu includes Tasman specialities, wild meats, great vegetarian options and lots of produce from the extensive Riverside gardens, plus superb wines from the plethora of vineyards in the Moutere area. You can dine al fresco in our lovely garden or on our sheltered deck area, or grab a table inside the historic cafe (built 1860) and be inspired by the local art which adorns the walls! A unique and wonderful cafe, offering a very warm welcome. We are open 7 days a week from 9.30 To 4.30Pm, plus open for dinner on Saturdays evenings. We will open both Fridays and Saturday evenings from Dec, and throughout summer: please call to check our evening opening dates to avoid disappointment!
