Four of us ate here on the Bank Holiday Monday lunch time after New Year. Very busy, the owner very happily reserved us a table in the restaurant while we changed our boots. ( We usually eat in the cosy lounge ). We had the homemade steak & mushroom pie and the beef sandwich's, all arrived very soon All enjoyed... More

Enjoyed a good 3 course meal in the lounge by a delightful log fire. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The menu offered a wide choice, catering well for vegetarians. All course were of good quality and well presented. There was a wide range of local beers available which all in all left me one very happy chap Pie!

we called in on Xmas eve for our pre-christmas ritual having walked up Beresford Dale, but hadn't booked ahead so couldn't get into the lounge or bar to eat so we ate in the dining room which is very nicely decorated, but its a bit "restaurant" where we were hoping for the "warm fire and cosy bar". my fault not... Brilliant cosy pub, both bar and lounge, with great beer (black sheep ale on draught) friendly staff and an unbeatable quaint village location near stunning scenery.

Always receive a warm welcome here and one of my favourite spots in the middle of a walk in the area is the table next to the fire in the bar. I like that they serve half portions of main dishes which are sensibly priced and still a reasonable quantity. Typically half portions are £8 while mains full size are... More

We didn't get to eat in this pub due to the rather unhelpful & less than welcoming response from the landlord who doesn't encourage large parties as it apparently affects the 'ambience' of the place!! We are a family group of 9 - he told us to go elsewhere!!!! I wonder if he would have said this in the middle... More

We went in here after a walk in Harrington, the food was beautiful I had the lamb casserole (homemade) and my husband had the steak and ale pie (homemade) served with delicious vegetables, highly recommended, we will be returning again without a doubt.

We were staying in Hartington for the weekend and the pub was recommended to us. It was lovely; down to earth well cooked food , good service and a selection of drinks including a a varied wine list. Great place to rock up after a day's walk in the dales

Whilst in Hartington recently and after visiting the cheese shop we decided to call into the Devonshire Arms for a drink. We sat in the bar, it has a lovely atmosphere obviously popular with locals and visitors alike. Large choice of ales on offer, quant surroundings, this made a lovely end to our day.q
