Had the most fabulous lunch here today. 4 of us shared the delicious plates of food. Included were pork rillets, figs with yummy cheese, lamb meatballs in tasty broth. All served with toasted breads. Coffee and bienets to finish. Highly recommend lunch here. Great friendly service to top off a great afternoon.

High end end food in a convivial warm space. Remember when you were travelling and you came across that little local place and struck up a conversation with the owner then settled in for a session? Well that's this place with better food! The pork rillet is amazing and are a must. Craft beers as well as the usual fare... More

Three friends and I stepped into this pub. First impressions had us feeling warm in the country scene! Waitresses? Lovely. Menu? Interesting for a country pub, with numerous options. When we ordered the steak, we were expecting medium rare. We were not, however, expecting a cow straight off the paddock. When we politely mentioned it was too rare to the... More

We are very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience with us last week. My apologies for what seems to have been a simple misunderstanding you when I came to check on your meals. I misunderstood your bubbly comment with respect to your steak being 'a touch rarer than you're used to'. As it did not come across... More

We enjoyed our dining experience here. Anna the charming hostess recommended choosing from the small plates which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. We chose 3 dishes which were full of flavor. Being driven was a bonus and we were able to enjoy a bottle of wine with our dinner. Well worth a visit.

My husband and I arrived before the rest of our table so had the opportunity to chat with the owner (I'm assuming) at the bar. The new owners have been on board for nearly a year and clearly have aspirations to lift the hotel to a level more worthy of it location in the heart of wine country. It feels... More

The "Banny" has had it's ups and downs. Right now it is definitely on an up and well worth visiting. Anna and Andy have put together a great menu for every taste - pub menu but good quality with options from the best burgers around, great fish and chips to sharing plates of sliced rare steak. The wine list is... More

Enjoyed the tasty sharing plates of food. Very pleasant friendly service. My favourite was the Chimichurri steak with the pulled lamb asado tortillas close behind. We went in the evening but would probably be nice for lunch when you could see the view!

Such a lovely menu we couldn't decide. Very cheerful and helpful service. An extensive wine list with lots of lovely local wines. Was especially nice to see wines not widely available around the country. We couldn't fault our visit.

Description
The Bannockburn Hotel is a Wine Country Restaurant and Bar is just across the bridge from Cromwell, a thriving township in the heart of Central Otago. We are privileged to look out over some of the finest vineyards in the world.

We’ve seen the Gold Rush of the 1860’s, the Chinese settlements have come and gone, the valley has flooded and we’re still here serving great food, beer, and amazing local wine.

With over 150 wines on our list and more than 40 of those are available by the glass, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to sample some fantastic wine with your lunch, dinner, or lazy grazing snack.

Our restaurant and bar menu is a sharing or tapas style and features a varied list of innovative dishes for you to experience together with friends and family. Alternatively, you can choose from the list of classic pub favourites.

Come and lose an afternoon or two in our beer gardens, taking in the views or relaxing in front of the fire… after all, this is a pub with history, in fact we had the first liquor license in Central Otago.

The historic nature of the pub’s name does indicate that we have accommodation on site, however there has been no accommodation since the late 90’s. This will be rectified in a few years’ time so watch this space …
