Ate here with some friends during the famous Asparagus season (personally I do not like white asparagus) and the food and service was excellent. Good wholesome German food in a nice setting of an old mill. You can go upstairs and see the old machinery which makes it an interesting visit. Great German beer completed an excellent lunch. Will return.

Probably been a few days too long in the area and that it's why I got a little tired of hearing what can't be done by some junior server who clearly has not been told that customers pay for her salary. It's not an uncommon problem in the North of Germany and as such one should probably not blame the... More

This place USED TO be a mediocre 'Schnitzel w/ pommes' tourist stop at best. Having grown up and lived in or near Hamburg most of my life, my wife and I re-discovered this restaurant by coincidence and I was surprised by this 180° change in menu, quality and service that had been undertaken by the new owners since a few... We were lucky to arrive in time for the asparagus menu. Delicious asparagus soup and main course served with white asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The food was wonderful but the setting put it over the top. Futuristic Stemware was placed on crisp white linen and served with Ultra modern white dishes. And all in a real windmill!with an expansive view... More

The ambiance is just right for this windmill restaurant. There were a group of us and the service lacked enthusiasm at best. The food is plated as 'fine dining' but for what you are paying, the quality of ingredients should be much higher or the dish much larger. Most guests were not full after the meal. Would recommend for the... More

And all of that close to Hamburg. In a country where creativity expresses itself abundantly but away from the kitchen, to find innovative cuisine becomes a sensation. Traditional produce from the area, including rare beets and turnips, take a special place in dishes. My wife's appetizer of asparagus, morels, poached egg in miso sauce, was "Excellent" in her words. Mine were... More

We had dinner here with our daughter and son-in-law last evening. The ambiance and service were first rate, along with a fine wine list. The food, unfortunately, left much room for improvement. My daughter had Blackened Monkfish. The fish resembled a medium sized potato cut in half with some seasonings on it...with very little taste...although nicely presented. My wife's three... More

We came here for lunch. The lunch menu consists of two starters, four mains and two (three?) desserts. We had an excellent red wine with different starters and mains. The food is mainly locally sourced. An excellent olive oil with bread basket arrived first. A ginger orange soup was next, which was tasty, but much better was my neighbors choice... More

We kind of stumbled across his cute little restaurant by coincidence. We were in the area and decided to try it since the menu looked interesting - had some unusual ingredients as well as combinations (e.g. goat cheese cream with plums, apple pie with roquefort cheese and and and). We were not disappointed. The interior is very cosy and cute,... More

The restaurant is inside an old Dutch mill on top of a dike. The place itself is beautiful, but you will be surprised by the quality of the food. It is French cuisine style. Presentation is excellent and service very friendly. Top value for money. During the summer they have a terrace with views to all Altes Land. You can... More
