Only popped in for a pint and a quick sandwich. Tables were all ready reserved but managed to fit us in. Food was nice and staff were friendly and attentive.

I booked a table for two on a Saturday night for dinner. We were greeted by a bit of a smile and taken to our table, were not asked if we wanted any drinks just seated then asked what we would like to eat by another member of staff with a very similar greeting to our arrival. We ordered our... More

Visited the antiques center and decided to have lunch here. The food was good and there was plenty of it. Service was exceptional. I found the restaurant part a little bland in decor (not really welcoming) and the menu was a bit limited.

I have no wish to be harsh on The Barge Inn, as I had an enjoyable evening with good company, However, although perfectly edible, the food was obviously pre packed and not home made. The menu is quite large, again for obvious reasons and the bill will not break the bank.

I am glad to hear you had an enjoyable evening and that you felt our dishes were good value for money. I don't think you've been harsh, I do think you lack the ability to tell the difference between good quality fresh food & boil-in-a-bag dishes. We are very well known for our fresh food and use of local produce.... More

Dropped in for a spot of lunch with a colleague [lunch break from work] having paid for a drink and food [bar food], forty odd minutes & two drinks later still no appearance of any food. On asking for a refund, as we had to return to work, I was asked if I wanted the food to take away...unbelievable!! [we... More

In between your 40-mins of drinking a little reminder may have helped. I guess offering the sandwiches as a takeaway was just trying to be helpful. Sounds like it must have been a really busy lunchtime, we normally manage to keep most customers happy. Yes please, if you could get Gordon to pop in again that would be great, I... More

Had lunch here and was a little disappointed. Food was good, and plenty of it, but staff were just not interested in doing anything more than needed. The restaurant wasn't even busy. Shame as it has potential.

What a pity the staff side of things let us down, I will be bringing your review to the attention of all staff and hopefully those working on the day, will take notice and buck their ideas up. Sorry it disappointed you. More

Old traditional style pub, open real fire, low ceilings, sloping floors but with a contemporary twist. Good food, I've eaten there several times. Can recommend the ploughmans. Places to sit outside too. Plus opposite Battlesbridge Antique Centre so a great way to spend an afternoon.

States on website that they're dog friendly. Sadly not! Two high tables on the tiled area by the door are dog friendly. Didn't make us feel we were welcome so we left.

No, it doesn't state that on our website, please have another look. However, being a long term dog owner and very keen animal lover, we actually do welcome well behaved dogs in most area's. On occasions when we are very busy, not every customer when they are eating want to sit next to a dog, so we keep this in... More
