A cozy atmosphere best describes the Basil. If you are traveling to the Wausau WI area and are tired of all the national chains you must visit this jewel. Be prepared for gourmet cuisine and the best Scotch collection I have ever seen. The wine selection is very impressive also. When you get back home you will be telling your... More

Each time we have been there , we have enjoyed it. Nice staff, wide variety of food, good quality food. They could have small loaves of fresh bread, but otherwise nice.

I have gone here many times, and this place never disappoints. Try the lamb shank when they offer it during St. Patty's Day. Fantastic! They have a delicious Rib-Eye steak that is incredible, too.

The Alaskan salmon was fantastic! They coupled it with a perfectly done rice with Thai seasonings. Also, I cannot say enough about the service. I sat at the bar, but they went through the detail of having an actual server wait on you. Nice touch!

They have Thai.......they have Italian......they have Irish.......and all seems good. I had a business meeting there, and we ordered a variety from Curry to crab cakes to Shepard Pie and all were outstanding. In a mini-mall, so lot's of parking. kInd of a small place with a small bar. They were able to make a particular curry dish for a... More

We had an amazing lunch! Very artisticly presented. Not your run of the mill eatery s. Great atmosphere and service was fast and friendly. Appetizers were a little pricey, but sandwiches were good and worth it.

Excellent asian fusion food, pleasant staff, and willing to make a variety of dishes just about as mild or as spicy as you like. Highly recommended.

I took my wife to Basil and I was amazed at this location. A small quaint location with awesome decor. Family owned with a terrific staff. Nice relaxing music and great food. The greating we received at the front door was perfect. Professionalism at its best. The presentation of the food was great and the staff was awesome. This is... More

Jim and Tee Daly own the restaurant and it only takes minutes into your first visit before they become life long friends! Tee works in back to create authentic Asian plates you'll never forget and her husband Jim spins the tunes, drinks and conversation out front. It's a really special place for anywhere USA, but for Wausau? It is truly... More

Description
Opened about Dec 2009. Local paper (Wausau Daily Herald) gave it a four star review. We ate there for lunch on 4/30/2010. Ambitious menu, fresh ingredients, well-prepared dishes with good presentation. Interesting wine selections. And the cleanest bathrooms in memory. This is now our first-choice for upscale food in Wausau.
