A brewery pub that serves reasonable food and drink in pleasant surroundings, but is a bit overpriced for what it is. The location is lovely, nice beer garden in the summer, but is lacking the buzz that would justify the prices.

I last reviewed The White Oak two years ago but have been several times in between. There is quite a lot of competition within a couple of miles or so and the fact that this is often very busy speaks for itself on the price/quality...More

This is another super clean Pub, the food is very good and the service excellent. My man and I love the interior “classy” is what it is. It’s very busy and good for that! We will be back soon.

What a shame, standards have dropped. The service was so slow, friendly enough, but we waited ages for our main course. The kitchen seemed challenged because in addition to the waiting, they were running out of quite a few dishes. The food was nicely presented...More

Nice friendly staff slow service and very average food. The atmosphere was very good but the food which was the main purpose for our visit was at best warm and lacking in taste. It was recommended for Sunday lunch for its roast but the best...More

Visited here for a roast and everything about it was fantastic. Beautifully cooked beef, huge Yorkshire and the best roast potatoes I think I've ever had. Service was also impeccable

Really lovely lunch. Not much for those who don’t want meat. But if you like meat, that’s hardly a problem! Staff were lovely. Would happily come back.

4 male friends used to lunching, returned after 2 years. Nothing has changed for the worst. Service, ambiance and food better if anything. We couldn't understand why we have left it so long. We were all excited by the stylish twists made to high quality...More

Staying locally we were looking for somewhere to celebrate our wedding anniversary. What an excellent choice! Great food, great, friendly service (Emma) - what more can you ask for. We ate off the set menu with additional sides. Portions were excellent, particularly the veg, and...More

Dear Charlotte, Thank you for your query and yes our lovely garden can sit 18+ outside but would need to use more than 1 table. Please call Emma on 01625523043 to organise or for more information. Many thanks and warm... More

Description
Bridging the gap between country inn & local restaurant The White Oak is an independent and contemporary 'Gastro Pub' where the kitchen & service sets out to please. A L Carte & Set menus also decent value (£15/19 for two/three courses at lunch and dinner). The traditional Roast is served on Sundays alongside the A La Carte. There's also plenty of good drinking on the Corney & Barrow wine list (look for Delamotte Grand Cru Champagne, Archaval-Ferrer Malbec, & 'Psi' Tempanillo from Michael Sisseck), Local Ales & Cocktails in the Bar. The relaxed dining room's thick beams, cream chandeliers and widely spaced, bare tables match the food's smart, unfussy tone, while warm, engaging staff and a compact, broadly priced wine list also fit the bill.
