This pub has a great atmosphere, food is ok. But importantly: take your time to taste some of the great and rare whiskeys on stock. Friendly locals will be happy to advise, just follow and you will not be disappointed!

Welcoming and great pub food menu with good craft beers. We had the seafood platter for two which was loaded with 'fishy goodies' plus two drinks all for £23. Very good and the staff were friendly and accommodating. If in town this is where you want to wine & dine.

The Captain's Table is well located right on the waterfront of the Stonehaven Harbour. It seems poular with full tables and people waiting to get in on a Saturday. Four of us had a light lunch: place you order at the bar and food will be brought to your table. the menu is quite varied, but the food is only... More

Not much atmosphere, but the seafood sharing platter was OK, nothing more than that. I don't like being told that I have to vacate my table by a certain time only to hear people who come in after me being told that they also have to vacate their table, but by a later time then me. I really don't see... More

The traditional Scottish pub menu offers great choice and value. The same menu is served in both the restaurant - which is often fully booked - and the bar - with tables that before free a little quicker. Compared with the other eateries around the harbour this proved to be the best choice without emptying the wallet.

The Ships Inn is very popular for visitors to Stonehaven - and you need to reserve even for lunch (or be early/ early). But the food is really only average and the atmosphere doesn't match the price (which is not expensive: but neither is it cheap). Get a window seat: then at least you can look out over the harbour.

Tonight a friend and I had a beautiful meal of Mussels and fries in The Ship Inn. From the word go, we were welcomed in and shown to our table. The staff were very attentive and it was a delightful evening spent eating excellent food and in good company.

Whenever in the area we like lunching here as you can usually get a table inside, they offer fresh seafood and good drinks. I had a seafood platter that had plenty of salmon, great mackerel pate, prawns and crab claws. Our mums had the fritto Misto and my wife some fish buns.
