Ok had Lunch here, actually travelled here specifically - we had the lunch time set menu, the food was amazing and good value for money (something I'm finding out all over this area) For us the service was great we had a extremely interesting conversation with the owner (but we did also engage in conversation two way thing !!) so... We visited this restaurant on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. From when we went in the door we were looked after by attentive and friendly staff. The food was great, fresh produce and very executed. Good wine list also and wonderful selection of drinks.

We had heard fabulous things about The Tolbooth and finally had an excuse to go and try it out and wow am I glad! Atmosphere was lovely nice, surroundings were nice with good space between tables which makes a change from other restaurants where they try and cram you in. Some homemade bread and canapés to start were delightful and... More

Stopped at this place en route to Pitenween. Had really good bread and excellent Cullen Skink. Had a great prix fixe menu and al. Was very well executed and tasty. The service, however was less than welcoming. Not bad, just not very warm and fuzzy. Very businesslike in their interactions. Would one smile be a problem?

The food here was marvelous and unique. The service was outstanding. There bar has extensive selections. We treated ourselves to a 40 y/o Black Bull whiskey in lieu of dessert. The only down side to it all is the price....its high, even for what you are getting. But if your looking for a splurge or celebrating.....this is where to do... More

Worst restaurant I've ever been too. Food was terrible and all the staff acted like they were all entitled. Worst customer service I've received in a long time. Nothing would induce us to darken their door ever again.

This restaurant is ideal for that special night out. Good food with a mainly fresh seafood menu. The service was very good and the waiters were food and wine knowledgeable. The setting is "cosy" and there are lovely views over the harbour. With wine, coffee etc. expect to pay approx. £60 per head, but worth it.

This highly rated restaurant disappoints. The fish is fresh, but the presentation could be more accomplished. It is situated on the first floor of an historic building which overlooks the lovely Stonehaven harbour, but it lacks ambience, feeling cold physically and reminds one of a school canteen. The prices are undeservedly high for the food itself, and average wines carry... More

Had a delightful lunch in this lovely restaurant. Large choice of seafood as you would expect and a very knowledgeable waiter gave us answers to all our questions. Starters were delivered shortly after our orders were made. The restaurant was relatively quiet as it was just on 12.00 Sunday lunch time we arrived. It did get busier after that. The... More

I had a lovely buthday lunch in this really charming restaurant facing stonehaven harbour. Built in 1600 and originally a storehouse for nearby dunotter castle, then court and prison. Now an excellent seafood restaurant, although they do some great meat dishes too. Their fixed-price menu is good value. The seafood is locally sourced, original recipes, beatufully presented. Definitely worth a... More
