Me and a group of friends were travelling back towards Wigan from Ilam, Derbyshire when we ventured off the A523 to find the signposted pub. It was early evening (6pm) when we called in so it was understandable quiet. The reception 5 muddy booted walkers received was welcoming. Exceptionally reasonably priced menu with a good choice. Food ordered and we... More

During a visit to the UK over Christmas, we went to this lovely pub for lunch with my brother and sister in law on their recommendation and were far from being disappointing! The wonderful warm welcome and roaring fires together with the comfortable ambiance was so very memorable. The service and quality of the food was excellent together with it... More

On a very wet night in October we arrived to a totally empty pub. The lack of atmosphere was slightly disconcerting, made more difficult by the one item I wanted from the limited menu not being in stock. Starters were simple but okay, I had steak for main and it was over cooked and not worth the price. Chicken dish... More

Had 2 excellent meals here, beer well kept, friendly owners and locals. Not a huge place so booking essential at weekends, also have occasional live singers after a very successful Music Festival earlier in the year

This was the lunch time stop for our small walking group which walks every month in the Peak District and has been doing so for the last 27 years. However, this our first visit to Waterfall (but not our last) and our first but not last visit to the Red Lion. This is a traditional pub with a good range... More

Local friends took me here for a lovely traditional pub meal. We enjoyed pate and I had mustard chicken. It was a very comfy setting.

Returning home from Ashbourne to Leek we called into the Red Lion Inn situated in the little village of Waterfall. It was early doors and we where the first people there. We where made to feel really welcome by the owner who who's name we found out to be Kath. She recommended some options for our evening meal as we... More

Slightly off our usual beaten track but tried The Red Lion as it was listed on a website listing dog-friendly establishments. A small pub, at least the bit we saw, but with two rooms so you could get away from the TV. Lovely to have a log fire lit on a chilly evening. Standard pub fare but served in an... More

Tucked away in the small village of Waterfall, approximately two miles off the Ashbourne to Leek road near Waterhouses. The pub has it's own small car park across the road, plus some roadside parking. The interior has several rooms and is cosy and traditional, and clearly makes dogs welcome too. A fair range of beers are sold. The food menu... More

Lovely small country pub, where you are met with a warm welcome and lovely food. The food was all freshly cooked, so allow for a half hr to forty five minutes wait, which they will tell you about, but it was cooked to perfection and well worth it. Desserts were fantastic, and my daughter loved the hot chocolate. Service was... More
