The San Jose was just recently renovated and now is nearly ready to open up the second floor with a larger variety of food. So far you have the first floor open with the bakery, ham and cheese and the restaurant with sandwiches and snacks. On the second floor they have a large space for seminaries or meetings or family... This Panaderia is the best bakery we have come across so far in Latin America. Really nice breads (with great variety). Lots of tasty ice creams and a restaurant inside with burgers, sandwiches etc. The staff were really friendly and helpful explaining the large variety of food.

The bakery products are amazing there but the prices are quite ridiculously high. Close to the Plaza de Armas so you can easily grab breakfast here before the daily tours start. However, many restaurants offer good breakfast for much less.

We ate here two out of the three mornings of our stay. They had an extensive menu of breakfast and snacks and their fresh-baked breads were delicious!

This bakery has won the price for the best bread in Peru several times, although Im not sure if the bread is so extra ordinary good, the breakfast options are great! From complete breakfasts to all sorts of sandwiches and a lovely fruit salad with yogurt and granola, they have it all. Juices are always fresh as is the coffee.... More

The baked goods are absolutely to die for! Very good. My hostal recommended San Jose for breakfast and it was good, but nothing amazing. The prices werent bad. Other travelers raved about the coffee, but I found it sub-bar. The service is absolutely terrific. One day it was super busy and the waitress was a little stressed but altogether good.

Peru is overflowing with sub-par bakery/cakeries, full of stale rolls, sickly-sweet confections and horrid ice cream only to be eaten when bored of all else. San Jose is, refreshingly, not one of these! Granted, you're still in Peru. But given the low standards for these places, San Jose delivers. I sampled a variety of their bread rolls, all of which... It is the place where the locals go for their breakfasts. Very simple Deco. I had a coffee in Panadería San Jose and it was a good expresso. In Chachapoyas my experience with coffee has been surprisingly good. Of course it could be better if they would have those Italian Coffee machines, but the coffee around here is still awesome...
