We stayed here on the weekend of the 7th April. Wow what can I say. Beautiful place to stay. The staff were very welcoming the accommodation was lovely and the food was outstanding. And the location was perfect. Would highly recommend and will be booking again. Thank you Cheshire cheese :)

Right from the beginning, we had really friendly service. Our boys are (at the moment) a little fussy with what they'll eat and my wife is coeliac so, ideally, the dishes are made onsite so that all dietary requests and requirements (respectively) can be catered for; that's the case here. Wonderfully succulent and tasty lamb and venison steaks came on... More

Welcoming staff at a busy time. They relocated us without issue from our reserved table and apologised for the forgotten hot chocolate - which was delicious when it arrived. Food was lovely, I had ham, egg, chips and peas, all of which was nice, and Dan had fish, mushy peas and new potatoes, the fish and new potatoes were nice.... More

Really nice little traditional pub, drinks were nice and service was good however the food was not great value. Pie was around £14, chips were extra, the pie was extremely dry and tasteless, chips a little over done. Mash tasted as though it had been kept warm for most of the day however the sausages were pretty good. All in... More

Had our first cup of tea here after coming down from the hills. Nice welcoming atmosphere, 20 minutes waiting time for food though.

What can i say a quaint little pub, with mismatched furniture and bits and bobs, lovely staff, fab service, bloody lovely food and massive portions, although we did manage 3 courses but needed a pin to let the air out later!!!! I don't want to give anything else away so you need to go and try it for yourself, i... More

The restaurant is on two levels. We were over one side and they accommodated an extra chair on a 4 seater table due to our spur of the moment booking. The service was okay and the menus straight forward with a good selection of traditional food. The main course you got a good amount of meat with some roasties and... More

A perfect place to stop if you're walking around this area in the beautiful Peal District National Park. Warm welcome (in both senses, they have an open fire), well-kept ales (I recommend the Bakewell bitter) and friendly service. We came for lunch, the food was simple but very well-presented and in generous portions. Old-style, wooden interior, nicely laid out in... More

What a lovely pub with a good menu & the food is delicious. Being a vegetarian it was nice to have a good variety. We look forward to returning next year.
