Excellent pub with lovely charming staff. Really good menu as well as a specials board. Delicious dinner. Really comfortable, well designed bedrooms and we had the most enormous bathroom with a very large shower and lovely slipper bath. Lovely, lovely breakfast. Unfortunately we were only staying for one night, but we shall certainly revisit for another!

From start to finish we couldn't find any fault on our evening out at the Blue Bell. A friendly welcome by the the barman confirming our reservation was followed by an equally warm welcome and attentive service from the restaurant staff. Our meal was delicious, certainly a level above traditional pub fayre. The restaurant recently refurbished creates a calm and... More

Had Sunday lunch which was very nicely presented. However one tiny bowl of vegetables for 3 people was totally inadequate. The roast meat, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding served on the plate was very nice but would expect adequate vegetables to accompany it. There was no mint sauce for lamb of apple sauce for pork offered. The starters and sweets were average.... More

We stayed for one night as we were at a 40th birthday party in nearby Knaresborough and we hit on a real treat. After having arrived and booking in we were shown our room and wow, really tastefully decorated (as is the whole place, plastic topiary trees aside) and the finish is superb. We then decided to eat at the... More

Ignored upon arrival for 3 minutes while Mr FOH in a creased shirt shuffled some papers and answered the phone. Asked for lemonade but got soda, said it would be ok if he put a dash of lime in it. Was surprised to be charged 50p for the lime as it was his error. Service slow and I do get... More

My wife and I went here for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of the lady behind the bar at the general tarleton as they'd stopped serving food. The pub has really nice feel with lots of comfy seating and stone floors, the sort of place that you wouldn't mind being your local. The menu has plenty of choice with all... More

Stayed for one night & totally loved the place. The bedroom was tastefully decorated & dressed & the bathroom was incredible, roll top bath twin sinks & separate shower. The evening meal was delicious, lots of choice, well cooked & beautifully presented, after a good nights sleep breakfast was again first class. Plenty of choices, large portions & cooked to perfection.... More

My wife and I decided to have a Sunday lunch meeting with two of our long standing friends ,Pat and Barry ,who live in Little Ouseburn , York. Barry recommended 'The Blue Bell at Arkendale' so there we went. I had never heard of or visited either the pub or village prior to the meet.it was therefore something to look... More

We booked a table on Friday night at the Blue Bell at 8.30 pm. The car park was very busy so we parked over the road in the village hall car park. Really comfortable and well presented pub/ restaurant with a choice of seating areas, with big sofas / chairs next to the fire and a range seating for eating.... More

Description
Fantastic food is important at The Blue Bell: our local suppliers provide us with great Yorkshire produce which our chefs use to put together a great range of dishes from the pub classics we all know and love (think Fish & Chips or Cheese Burger) to some slightly more elaborate dishes that are perfect for those special occasions.

To keep things simple our main menu runs throughout the week at both lunchtimes and during evening service. This is then supplemented by a lighter menu of Sandwiches & Light Bites on Wednesday to Saturday, whilst on Sunday we have our fantastic traditional roasts available for only £10.95.
