The Tides is an excellent restaurant. It is located just south of Holetown overlooking the sea. The restaurant is large with its own car park. As you enter the lobby area there is a bar on the right with its own enclosed seating area &...at the back of the restaurant is the dining area which is quite long. The front seating area is mainly for tables of 2 & is the “front row “ in overlooking the bay & is perfect to watch the sun going down. A few of the original trees that were there before the restaurant was built have been incorporated into the restaurant. The whole effect is quite stunning. After a pre dinner cocktail - a pina colada for my wife & a rum punch for me which were served with complimentary bread my wife ordered the carrot & coconut soup - a beautifully thick broth served over small pieces of carrot. It was full of flavour & she loved it. I chose the spiced king scallops which were a special that day. Three large scallops perfectly cooked in a spicy dressing. It was also excellent. There is an extensive wine list which covers most of the popular wine producing countries with prices to suit most pockets. We chose the Pouilly Fuisse which was very quaffable. For our main courses my wife had the crab & lobster risotto which was full of pieces of shellfish in a perfectly cooked risotto. I chose the Thai spiced seafood stew which was one of the best dishes I have eaten. The stew was full of white fish, calamari, shrimp, mussels & clams in a light almost green curry sauce with basmati rice. The dish was amazing with all the consistent parts working so well together. I loved it. Although we had both eaten a lot the meal was so good we decided to indulge ourselves even more with a dessert & chose to share the sticky toffee pudding. This was covered in a caramel sauce and served with vanilla ice cream on the side which again was excellent & surprisingly quite light. The service throughout was excellent, attentive friendly & very efficient. All the dishes were served in a timely manner. It is not the cheapest place you can eat at in the area but it is definitely one of the best, if not the best & we had had a wonderful meal.More

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and booked a 6:00 pm reservation at The Tides for dinner on a Thursday evening to make sure that we could watch the sunset. The staff made sure to seat us at the best table in the...restaurant, right on the shoreline overlooking the ocean which was perfect for the sunset! Our server, Ranako, was absolutely amazing as he made sure that our night was the best it could possibly be.. he took pictures for us and made sure that everything was perfect! I can't thank the staff enough for making it such a memorable evening!More

We have been in Barbados for 7 months now and there are a number of restaurants that we would recommend for a special occasion and the Tides is one of them. I think we have been there 7 times now and the quality of the...food and service is second to none. All the staff are attentive, it has a great bar for pre lunch/dinner drinks and a fabulous view. It is so good that our son's wedding meal will be held there in Oct this year (Covid willing).More

Once again The Tides surpassed expectations! Jazz on Sunday drew the most wonderful group of diners who appreciated cool music and perfect food. The new owner was there himself, though you would never have known, as we all were treated like royalty. The food sang...and the service was attentive. I think the chefs, especially the Patisserie chef, Michelle excelled themselves. Please can we keep coming back???More

We went to the Tides for Mother’s Day lunch and had the worst experience we have had at any Barbados restaurant. We had been there for Sunday lunch two weeks previously and it was fine, but they were clearly overwhelmed and completely unable to handle...the volume of guests they had booked n for Mother’s Day. We were shocked by the way we were treated, but it is right in line with the rudeness and attitude that several other guests have experienced and shared recently at the Tides. We arrived on time for our 2:30 reservation and were made to wait for half an hour before being taken to a table in the sun. We tried to make the best of it though it was hot and uncomfortable. We placed our order and were made to sit sweltering n the sun for an hour without even our appetizers coming out. At this point we were unbearably hot and asked to move to a table in the shade since the restaurant was half empty by then. The waiter said no problem and took us to a different section of the restaurant where it turned out someone else had been seated at the table that had been prepared for us while we were walking over. This is incredibly poor organization and far beneath a restaurant that purports to offer fine dining. The staff then proceeded to seat us back in the lobby, after we had been at the restaurant almost an hour and a half. After ten minutes of sitting there waiting for them to find us another table, we were too hungry to wait any more and decided to leave. We asked to pay the bill for our drinks and a manager and hostess came out and prevailed on us not to leave and to give them another chance. We agreed but told them we were very hungry and uncomfortable and didn’t want to stay if it would be a lot longer for our food. They assured us it would be their highest priority. (Spoiler alert: it wasn’t). We waited several more minutes and were then taken to a table right in front of the bussing station where the servers dump the dirty dishes. It was noisy and unpleasant. The restaurant was more than half empty at this point. We asked to move two tables down where it was less noisy and hectic and were reluctantly accommodated. Finally after being there for more than an hour and a half our appetizers came. Mine tasted bad and I couldn’t eat it. Before I could tell anyone, a very rude and aggressive employee who seemed to be in a managerial position cleared away my plate without asking how it was or why I didn’t eat it. Again, not something that should happen at a fine dining restaurant. But what happened next was much worse. My husband flagged down the man who had cleared away our plates to ask how long it would be for our food. He rudely replied that it would be quite a while because they just placed the order. This ran contrary to the promises of the manager who assured us they would make sure our food came out right away when we were re-seated. They clearly hadn’t given us another thought. I then commented that he hadn’t asked me why I didn’t eat my appetizer and he argued with me that I had eaten it. I couldn’t quite believe this. Rather than admit his mistake he rudely argued with a guest. This for us was the final straw and we left without getting our main course. We left hungry and upset. The worst part was that we gave them a second chance and they let us down again. It wasn’t just a ruined meal, it put a real damper on our Mother’s Day.More

First, the calming effect of the beautiful turquoise sea undulating sea splashing on the rocks in front of the boardwalk. Then, the service! Heaven. Oh, and the food! I had the soup and the lamb shanks - my husband is a fisherman so I get...plenty of ultra fresh seafood at home - although I do understand that the seafood at The Tides is a specialty. The service here is top class. Food is delicious and prepared perfectly with amazing tastes. What have I left out? Oh yes, the lunch specials! Just go.More

My husband and I came to The Tides for our anniversary. The service really was top notch and the atmosphere was lovely. We chose two courses off the prix fixe menu and loved every bite. The wine selection and cocktails are also perfect. Honestly, we...have only good things to say about this place. 10 out of 10!More

I have seen travellers dress like this at Champers, however we like to dress up when we go out. The dress sandals are fine but I personally would not wear shorts to go out for dinner, neither would my husband.
