Very good food, very nicely cooking. Its a bit pricey but the big portions make up for it! Definitely try it if youre in the area.

Just by chance we came to this place and were very positively surprised by both their food and service. I think it was the most delicious food we have eaten in Greece so far. My choice was: Athiri salat, spicy cheese and chicken souvlaki. That was simply amazing!

We had lunch on the verandah overlooking the vineyards. The food is based on Greek home cooking, but it isn't swimming in oil and there are unusual touches of flavour. Perfectly cooked mushrooms, garden-fresh salads with a few unexpected ingredients tossed in (e.g. crana berries) and the best soutzoukakia (char-grilled mince, delicately spiced) I have ever eaten! The house wine... More

While we were busy searching for a good place to eat, more or less around the lake, where all the well rated placed were fully crowded and the staff not so cooperant, we had the inspiring idea of trying this restaurant which is at around 8km away from Kastoria. Well, it fully worthed the short trip, as since we arrived... More

We had a great dinner for about euro 20 in Athiri, last night. The owner had prepared the traditional bean soup, a specialty of Kastoria, and a meat dish, kotsi - part of pork's leg. Wild greens, boiled to perfection, and a pumpkin desert, completed our selection. The bread was warm and the local feta was very good.

On the way back home on a long trip, we needed to make a stop for lunch as we had very young children with us. Although I had heard about the village ( Ampelokipoi ) I had never heard about any particular restaurant there. It was a busy Sunday for all taverns - restaurants in the village, and we randomly... Everything we tasted was great. I advise you to go and taste as many plates as posible. It is close to the town, only some kilometres away. The service the quality of the food and the smile of the owners make an excellent combination. Don't miss it if you visit Kastoria.
