We love eating here! Friendly atmosphere, live music and take out is also available. Their fish&chips are delicious, but the Queen Lizzy, Bangers & mash and the beef stew are all great too! Looking forward to in person dining with live music again in the...near future!More
There are way better dining choices in Lakefield. The wait time was ridiculously long and when the food finally arrived it was cold and greasy (I mean soaked with grease like the deep fryer wasn’t hot enough). Way too expensive for awful pub good and...the atmosphere was not friendly at all.More
Always supportive of local restaurants but never again. I have been on many occasions and somewhat disappointed. But always willing to come back. But never again. Arrived. Got drinks right away and waited 25 minutes and the server did not return. Put my money on...the table and left. The server said on the way out “thanks for coming”. Really? Give me strength. I am sorry. Never again.More
Stopped in for lunch today and the food was great as I remembered from previous visits. The problem was.. our server had very long hair (waist length) and it was literally touching the plates she was carrying. Had we noticed this before receiving our food,...we likely would have left. Also, she was not friendly or attentive.More
My family and I love the Canoe. We frequent it often. They have done everything humanly possible to keep open through the pandemic. To top off their food, they have the bakery with ice-cream next door, which has amazing desserts.
we wish we had read the July 16th review before going here. The reviewer was so correct in regards to lack of management.
The service was horrible. We waited 45 minutes for a burger and fish and chips.
Never once did the waitress offer an...explanation or apologize.
She never bothered asking my wife what kind of salad she wanted.
The burger was decent but the fish and chips were greasy and you had to search for the miniscule piece of fish buried in the batter.
She never bothered asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. As it was already close to closing she was clearly in a hurry to get out.
We would never go back here! Really disappointingMore
This restaurant has typical pub food, nothing really stood out. Not bad, not great. Due to Covid, all seating is outside; some has no shade so request it if you need it. They don’t take reservations but you can call for a table and they’ll...put you on their list if you arrive in the next 20 minutes. It’s not on the water in case you were wondering.More
Visited afternoon Wednesday, 15th July - YES - amid COVID-19!
Hostess assigned a table/menu - BUT neglected to tell us that one places orders for both food and booze inside restaurant, before heading out to patio service tables! So - we waited a very long...time - then some regulars explained 'the deal'. Needs a hostess at the front who knows the ropes and knows to explain the ropes!
After figuring out the process to order - waited a VERY long while to get our beer - supposedly training a new bar person - but honestly - could the trainee not have concentrated on orders for ONE table - and let an experienced bar person pour the other drinks!
Again - a Restaurant Management person would be a huge asset - it wasn't particularly busy when we were there - other tables were in same predicament - not advised of protocols.
There is a sign posted on entrance door ... perhaps there should be a second sign which simply says - sanitize on entry, obtain your patio table paddle, order your food and drink and pick up your own condiments, BEFORE you proceed to the patio ... simple, simple, simple.
Food at this place is phenomenal and craft beers aim to please - especially like 'the menu' that explains the craft beer comparables.
STEP UP YOUR SERVICE - know it's COVID, but that hostess would have made our visit so very much more pleasurable.More
