A lovely upscale restaurant in the town of Lakefield. They go out of their way to provide good service and were very accommodating to one person’s gluten free needs.

Back patio is secluded and away from busy street (so no fumes from traffic, thank goodness); food was delicious but I was almost forgotten for service from the front as people came in at the same time for take out. After the rush, Chef David...was able to come out and chat a bit “ en français “. The conversation was about food, naturally, but also about making flavoured vinegars. On a next visit to Lakefield, I was offered a sample of a product to be shared with everyone you love: a chive blossoms vinegar. It is one of the finer flavoured vinegar I’ve ever tried! I hope David will have all his vinegar concoctions available for purchase. It was delicious on salad. Thank you.More

Good evening Claudette. We are saddened that your overall star rating of 3 reflected one mistake made (that we went over and above to correct) and not your overall experience and many positives you encountered at Cassis Bistro. We always aim to please. Kind regards,...More

We moved to Peterborough 2 years ago, and this has become one of our favourite restaurants in the area. The food is consistently excellent, with dishes that are not the same old tired fare you see at other restaurants. We love everything from the appetizers...to the desserts. In the summer they have a nice patio, and this is a great place to take out of town guests. A plus is having the owners be the servers, as you know they really care about your experience.More

I was out with friends looking for a nice place for lunch and came across Cassis Bistro, what a pleasant surprise. We were greeted with the wonder aroma of amazing smells from the kitchen. Jacky greeted us with a smile and great attitude. I had...soup and sandwich and they were both amazing. I was sad when I was finished as they were soooo good . I highly recommend giving Cassis Bistro a try.More

We have been regular diners at Cassis every since Jacky and Rob took over. The title of the review says it all. We have NEVER been disappointed with either the food or the attentive service. We take our visitors there and they too are very...impressed. We have spent several holidays in France and Cassis measures up to our culinary experiences there. 10 out of 10 every time. I notice one of the questions below is about high chairs. This isn't a place I would want to take a small child. It is a quiet, refined place, yet not a place that makes you uncomfortableMore

We had the specials of the day for lunch: tuna sandwich and tomato soup. Doesn't sound like much ... But you'd be surprised how good they were - Red pepper added to both for example - took things to another level. Delish! We'll be back!

Last night we visited Cassis Bistro in Lakefield for the first time. I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. The occasion was a celebration of my husband's 85th birthday. We were a family group of 7, ranging in age from 18-85. We were greeted...pleasantly and escorted to a table that gave us a bit of privacy for most of the evening. We tend to be a fun bunch and sometimes a little boisterous. We did not want to intrude upon other diners. Rob, our server and co-owner, introduced himself as he presented the menus and explained the specials. He was attentive throughout the evening but not intrusive. We loved his friendliness and sense of humour. Our orders ranged from salads to soup to escargot for appetizers. From steak to scallops to chicken to lasagna for the main course. All the meals were presented beautifully and well-spaced between appies and mains. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and most of us had room for dessert. As the guess of honour, my husband's Creme Brûlée came on a plate that was drizzled “Happy 85th” in chocolate syrup. It was a special evening spent with family, good food and good wine and wonderful service. Thanks Rob and Cassis Bistro. We hope to be back for a Date Night.More

My husband and I dined at Cassis Bistro on September 9 for the first time and we will definitely be back. We sat on the patio and were greeted warmly by the owners. We enjoyed our appetizers of Mushrooms stuffed with seafood and cheese, and...crostini with warmed goat cheese and tomato bruschetta. For entrees we had Coquille St. Jacques with basmati rice and seasonal vegetables and the chicken supreme with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetable. For dessert we shared the Dutch chocolate cake with baileys buttercream along with two cappuccinos. Everything was delicious! Looking forward to a return visit soon. If you plan to dine here I would recommend making reservations in advance as there is limited seating.More

During Covid, we have been heading out of town from Toronto, safely, for day trips. Today we landed here. We had our dog with us, and their back patio was enclosed and could not accommodate him, so these amazing people set a table for us...out front! The best private dining experience! Wonderful service, really solid food, at decent prices. We loved it!More

My wife and I booked for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary which coincided with their Thursday “date night” special where two can dine for $60.00. This a a small but delightful restaurant. Owners are friendly and the food is excellent. We have...no hesitation in recommending. You will not be disappointed. Not only is the restaurant highly recommended for its food and ambience but they also have paid great attention to safety during the pandemic. We felt 100% safe while dining there. Suggest you try Cassis for yourselves and suggest to your friends...but please don’t tell too many people as we want to be able to ensure our own repeat bookings!More

My wife and I had a fabulous evening at Cassis Bistro. Jacky and Rob were the consumate hosts. They have the dining area set up for Covid but you wouldn't know it. It feels like you have the restaurant to yourself. Ambience was very calming...and inviting. To the food (don't have the menu in front of me, but here goes), we had the "Festive Special", Starters- Phylo with apple and a special cheese, Butternut Squash Ravioli. Entres- Beef Bourgonon and Maple Glaze Pork Tenderloin. Dessert- Christmas Cheese Cake, Egg Nog Creme Brule........Chef Sharon knocked everything out of the park! Every dish had its own identity. The flavors were inclusive and not over powering, perfect! Best vodka martini I've had in a while yo boot! Thanks again Team Cassis. You never disappoint! All the best for the remainder of (ech!) 2020! John and Joanne (Toronto/Buckhorn)More
