Had a lovely meal here on Wednesday 28th December so decided to book for our family a table for New Years Day, yes not a problem they said and booked us in. So we arrived in plenty of time New Year's Day all looking forward to our meal. Mmmmmm so we got shown to our table, the table was right... More

Visited this lovely pub for the second time with my young daughter. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating for my little one, and the food was excellent. Scampi and chips in particular were really delicious, and the ice cream sundae on the kids menu went down a treat. Would definitely stop here again when we are next in the area.

This is probably the best restaurant in the area and the county. Sophisticated flavours, great day food quality. Excellent kind and useful service. Good variety of drinks: ales and different wines. Clean place with a nice warm atmosphere. Lovely deco. I would add other couple of options on the tap for ciders and lagers and this place would be the... More

Staying nearby, lunch was had by 5 of us. All really pleased, I had the ploughman's plate, wow, what an absolute delight with almost too much cheese. We drank copious amounts of lively beer, all served by the friendliest of staff in a warm atmosphere. Can't wait for a return visit

From the well cooked and tasty local produce to the homely atmospheric interior (with blazing open fire) and the very helpful and friendly staff, this is everything you wish for in a Lake District village inn. If you are in the area, a recommended must visit!

We used to visit this establishment a lot during our holidays and frequent visits to the lakes but this last time we popped in for our evening meal the food wasnt up to the Horse and Farriers usual high standard. We ordered the same meals as normal but my mediterranean pasta bake was extremely watery and lacking in vegetables and... More

Having visited the previous evening for a family meal £100 without starters or desserts so not the cheapest and not the most expensive decided to call in for a pint with my wife at 10pm the following evening. A warm welcome from a local sat at the bar and TOTALLY ignored by the old guy behind the bar who was... More

One of the best places for food in the Lake District. Have been here in many times in the past and never had a bad experience. Someone previously stated that this is just basic pub grub and that the steak and ale pie is average (you'll always find someone who can't accept good food). The pie is amazing! Staff are... More

Stopped off for Sunday lunch and realised we were in the wrong Horse and Farrier. The landlady however was very understanding and we stopped for a drink and a chat. Even asking us about what drink a customer may prefer in the lines of Rose and prosecco. Would return just because of how lovely the landlady was.

I visited this pub 5 years ago and again in Oct 16, not only is the pub stunning, the food is exceptional and standards have not dropped. Friendly staff, good food, good prices and a place to visit without fail!!
