My husband two children and I went out for dinner last night. Service was so-so and food was definitely underwhelming. I ordered the salmon which came with "seasonal vegetables" and a choice for another side. I chose the ceasar salad to accompany it. Salad was...over dressed but good, the seasonal vegetables were 3 pieces of cooked broccoli that had no seasoning. After finishing my salad I started to eat my salmon when I realized it was raw and not cooked. We informed the server who was very apologetic. She offered to rectify the dish or take it off our bill. Since service had been slow and our children were getting restless I asked for the bill to be comped. When the bill was brought to us they had only taken $10 off of my $19 dish. I was charged $9.46 for a mediocre salad and broccoli that I never ate. All in all we will not be returning and we were not impressed with this restaurant.More

Located on Hwy 2, parking can be limited. I recommend you look at spots around back if there are no spots on Hwy 2. I found the apps lacking, not in flavour or quality, but just quantity. Not enough chips for the amount of dip....Usually we find this place very slow, not a spot you want to visit hungry. This time however the waitress was swift and on the ball. The WiFi is strong and easy to connect to. Oh! I forgot to say their drink menu is vast!!! So many local craft beers! I felt as if I had hit the jackpot!More

This is the fourth time we have been to this restaurant in Newcastle and I must consider reviewing some of the other comments we have been "unlucky". I had taken the time last year to give my feedback on a meal last year directly to...the management ( my seasonable vegetables on the meal.. was only one piece of asparagus !!) I received no response . Thought we would give it another go last week. First of all the positive , the patio us really nice and tables are well separated with wooden dividers , fans are circulating the air, so we felt very comfortable on a warm summers evening. The waitress serving us was excellent, friendly and made us feel so welcome. I ordered the steak sandwich and fries , my wife ordered the butter chicken wrap. To net it out ... parts of chicken in my wife's wrap were burnt and my steak sandwich was inedible as it was mostly fat and gristle ! The meat, what little there was, was tasteless. The waitress herself was disgusted at the contents of the bun and apologized profusely . She asked if I would like anything else but honestly after finishing up with a mouthful of gristle I sorta lost my appetite . She ensured we were not charged for the meal but its not what I wanted , I just wanted a decent meal at this pub , and they failed again, I wont be going back !More

July 27th 2022 I had lunch indoors with my son. We had The Other Woman Burger with Caesar Salad and the Mushroom, Onion Swiss Burger with Fries. They were both so delicious, definitely the best burgers in town! As always the service was friendly, efficient...and really appreciated. For those that enjoy eating outdoors they have a perfect patio. We will be back again soon to enjoy another great meal. p.s. They also have their "Newcastle Dairy " trailer in their rear parking lot that serves awesome ice-cream in so many amazing flavours.More

My friend and I had lunch at the Old Newcastle House today. We both ordered the Kickass Canadian Cowboy Burger from their summer menu and they were absolutely delicious. ( Homemade patty, crispy onions, house BBQ sauce, applewood smoked bacon, peameal bacon and fried cheddar...drizzled with maple syrup). They are definitely man-sized burgers, so bring an appetite !! The atmosphere was friendly and the service was excellent. Thank you Aimee!! . If you have never dined here, you should, as they definitely have the best burgers in town!!More

Quality food is very important considering we’ve been there a number of times and that quality is deteriorated. Four of us went for dinner three weeks ago vegan meals were needed and requested and stipulated want to be added and nothing came out right. We...came in to meet with I thought was the owner but it was just a head of your cooks. Level of empathy was zero. Fantastic patio that’s where it stops it’s bar food and very limited. Quality of food is very important which will bring people back. Very disappointingMore

My wife and I were heading home from Peterborough and were looking for a place to stop for lunch. Raining out and wanted some comfort food. So on Trip Advisor I went. Checked out a few menus at places to stop on the way and...found this restaurant in the perfect location with a good variety of comfort foods. Super COVID clean with your own little spot by the fireplace, private T.V tucked in the corner. Had their meatloaf and it was delicious. Tasty gravy for the garlic mash, broccoli 🥦 with back wrapped, cheese 🧀 stuffed meatloaf. To die for. Our pick the next time we are in the area.More
