Our family of four enjoyed this restaurant that looks like a 50s diner both outside and in. But the two best things were the friendly and efficient service and the generous and delicious portions of comfort food. Two of us had baked mac and cheese, one had fish and chips, and one ordered a kid's cheese sandwich and fries. The mac and cheese was a large portion but also came with a side salad and garlic toast. We enjoyed sundaes for dessert! The prices were so reasonable too. I highly recommend trying this place if you haven’t.
Belgian Dip. That’s all I have to say. I was new to this beautiful discovery of velvety chocolate covered soft serve and quickly gained a daily addiction. I need to get off this Island before I weight an extra 100lbs. Try the Turtle and Coffee Crisp. Divine!
Now located on route 1A heading into Summerside at Kool Breeze Garden centre and Ice Cream Barn. Awesome burgers with home made sauces and great fries. The lady "da mama" is so friendly and funny. So sad it is a seasonal operation. I try to go there as often as I can all summer long.
Not a big fan of Thai food, but they have a great spring roll, and for the most part are very efficient and quick to get you order out, and there are tables in teh Petrocanada you can sit down and eat at
Donut to go or eat in, typical donut shop but in a Petrocanada gas station. quick place to grab a snack and get on the road again. Walmart parking lot
We stopped in and ordered food to go. Lasagna was o.k. Chicken sub was just o.k. The bread with the lasagna and chicken sub was way too soft, lacking texture and probably made with unhealthy bleached white flour, The garlic bread also was not good quality. Probably won't be back.
This is my family’s favourite morning spot to visit!!! This store has made a very welcoming to seniors and anyone any time of day!!! Their seniors deal is what my family enjoys a coffee and a muffin!!! I mainly have a large skim Latte!!! They are wonderful!! I get a couple a day!! This is a very busy store!! The food is typical McDonalds food!!!
This subway was close to our hotel and easy to get in and out of. The sandwich maker was very friendly and did a fine job. It was a very clean restaurant.
They were a bit slow to seat us, or to tell us that we could seat ourselves. They don't have a great drink menu for beer or cocktails. We ordered. I had seafood chowder and hubby ordered fish cakes. They ran out of fish cakes earlier (it was 715pm). So hubby changed to liver and onions. Food came out in a reasonable time. Seafood chowder was very good. Good ratio of seafood to potatoes and the chowder base had a very nice flavour to it. One of my pet peeves about chowders is the flavourless base. I'd give this chowder a 8/10 for taste and seafood. Hubby's liver and onions turned out to be hamburger. It went back and by the time it came back out I was done. So I had dessert while he ate his main. I specifically asked if the strawberry shortcake was fresh not frozen strawberries. Apparently the young waitress has no idea what a fresh strawberry looks like. It was frozen berries. Very disappointing. Overall the food was average and the experience less then average.
Great place for coffee and donuts. They also have good sandwiches and soups. Located all over Eastern Canada.
Great food and great service! We were seated right away, order taken quickly and served within minutes. Good portions. About $20 per person for breakfast is a little pricey but you get your money’s worth.
My wife and I arrive on the Isle later than expected and wanted to catch some dinner before getting to our destination. Tired and run down we encountered the sole staff person who went out of her way to serve us with a smile and suggestions. She held open the grill until our order was ready and cleaned up as we left. The food was fine and in our circumstances we were grateful for the attention. We'll go back tomorrow on our way to the shore for breakfast. One good turn deserves another.
It’s not like it is better than the average dairy bar. Their softie ice cream arrives in a bag like everyone else’s and their frozen fries are the same as those served at other places that serve frozen fries. (At least some dairy bars make their own fries.) It is a place where people like to be seen for some reason though. So if you want to be seen at a dairy bar, then this may be the spot for you!
Ok, for something quick or a cool root beer Good gathering spot as central Bathrooms needed cleaning
Franchise food, healthy though, if you looking for decent healthy food, this is the place, load up the pita with veggies and enjoy
We were visiting with a group friends for a tournament and needed some place to go eat. Everywhere else was closed, but Pizza delight was able to accommodate us even past closing. It was greatly appreciated. Food came out quick, and waitress were friendly. Food was hot and delicious.
So much talent !!! Delicious 4 course meal. Salad, fresh loaves of bread, mussels, fish or chicken dinner & dessert. You are truly entertained throughout the evening. My only complaint, this year we paid extra money for VIP seats. Staff told us that was what we had. Not. Sat across fr cheap seats we had last year & viewed the men's washroom .Others @ our table had not pd the additional funds. I will be questioning in day or so. What to make this an annual visit.....only if we get what we paid for...........
When we arrived we were told we would have to wait 15/20 minutes for a table it took over an hour Restaurant was recommended by the hotel that we staying at. Although they were busy the service wasn’t very good, our server seemed rush & not really interested in what we needed, never asked if we needed drink refills. Never came back to check if we needed anything The seafood chowder was very good. Chicken was dried out, had been sitting in a warmer to long, wasn’t much better than M&M’s. Veg was beets & carrots unusual but both done well & very tasty, Cajun blackened fish was yummy & spicy. No offer of dessert, coffee/tea after we finished our meal the bill was presented. It was also very cold, the air conditioning must’ve been turned up high,
I stopped in to grab a sandwich for lunch after having an early morning appointment and ended up also picking up a few other things. I never think of the bakery since I work in the opposite direction and figure I would never get there during open hours. I am so thrilled to say I was wrong! Seeing this gem is open at 7am, I will go out of my way to treat myself. The young ladies who took my order and rang me in were friendly, patient, and deserving of a shout out. This likely just became my favorite lunch counter!
My husband and I frequent Jade Garden because we enjoy the fresh salad, hot food buffet, the ice cream and other desserts.
KFC now is simply not the same as KFC from days gone by, but the KFC here in Summerside does compare as well as any KFC I've had in Atlantic Canada, and the $5 Fill-Up meals are a good value. The service here was fast and friendly, and my order was filled correctly--which is something I've had issues with at other fast food establishments.
Hello Kitchen is a welcome addition to the PEI dining scene. We ate there twice since discovering this gem in September, 2022 and came away more than satisfied both times. Kensington may seem an unlikely place for great Indian food but Hello Kitchen is as good as any South Asian restaurant I have visited in the Greater Toronto Area. Their dishes, from garlic naan to basmati rice to pakora to samosas to various curries and the old standby, butter chicken, are flavourful and decently priced. The garlic naan arrived hot and with a nice crunch. Ditto the pakora and samosas. We also sampled the chicken curry, lamb curry and chicken kadai along with the butter chicken. All were bursting with flavour. The rice was flaky and cooked perfectly. A couple of words of advice: I saw some complaints that sides like rice were not included with the entrees. True enough, but the prices are such that even with the cost of basmati rice added, the meal is still priced right. Also, the family that runs the place keeps Island and tourist tastes in mind when it comes to spicing the food. So if you like some heat, make sure you tell your server you want it spicy. Given the loss of many favourite restaurants on PEI thanks to COVID, it is heartening to see Hello Kitchen arrive. We will be back every trip. BTW, on Thursday nights they close a bit early and have a good old-fashioned PEI dance. Since they are in the old Legion there's plenty of room to bring back memories for Islanders of a certain age.
One of the best food experiences in my life. Sadly, it's hard to find restaurant owners who care this much anymore. Although just a small, take out fish and chips place, the owner obviously takes pride in every aspect of his restaurant. No out of the plastic bag garbage here. Everything made fresh. You just won't find a better meal.
We visited for dinner based on the TA reviews. The restaurant was very busy with every table outside taken and most of inside full too, so it wasn't unexpected that the food did take a bit of time to arrive, but when it did arrive it was hot and well cooked. Our server was looking after a lot of tables yet still managed to check that we had drinks, etc. We had a couple of specials and the prices were higher than similar menu items, and as the server didn't mention the prices we were a bit surprised by them.
Clearly a local favorite in Kensington, we discovered this amazing shoppe while exploring PEI. What a treasure. The cinnamon rolls are amazing! On our second visit we discovered the fried chicken and potato wedges, which are both excellent and freshly made. It's like chicken and waffles only better! We will definitely return several times before we leave PEI. The women who work there are lovely. Don't miss an opportunity to pick up lunch and/or breakfast at Mary's.
Oh how I love Tim Hortons...let me count the ways. We went to the one in Kensington and I got a breakfast wrap which was SO GOOD. Everything tasted fresh. And the cruller donut was the best I have ever had. Great for a fast breakfast before exploring the island. Nice staff as well:)
Stopped by Friends and Family on our way from a hockey game. We were cold and hungry and this was the place to go. We were met with friendly competent staff who took our food orders and served us a cold beer! The food was very good and was a good price. The menu is a Pub style menu so do not expect fine dinning. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and the decor is warm and inviting. We definitely plan to return on our next visit to Kensington!
