We frequent Finkle Street Tap and Grill on a regular basis and find it never fails to impress ! The food is tasty , hot & well presented . The restaurant is clean and tidy . Check out their online menu for specials (ie 25% off bottles of wine on Wednesday's) . The service is always friendly and efficient . Owner Jenny and Manager Victoria are exceptional ! Always have dinner specials to choose from or order from the menu . Highly recommend if you live in Woodstock or planning a visit to the area.
Woodstock. Moving from BC and now living in Ontario we have found an eatery that has consistently made great hand crafted home comfort food on each of our visits. This weeks lunch was most excellent. Sweetie had a Chicken Pot Pie w/Coleslaw and I devoured the perfect Lamb on Nann Burger w/ crispy fries, and w/ pub curry gravy. The Beef Dip is hard to be passed up which is still hard not to reorder. I am now at peace knowing that the family run Charles Dickens Pub make in house great food with a passion serving the best made by hand. One great place to meet friends and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
We reserved for the 1st night of reopening and the place was humming A lovely room in an older house with lots of free parking. They also have beautiful covered garden patio. At the moment, they have limited hours and a limited menu which is oh so good! Haven’t had a meal this good in a very long time! Our table was such that we could watch 2 talented chefs preparing the meals and the bartender mixing up the house special cocktails. This is classy dining at VERY reasonable prices. Co owner, Jennifer, was our congenial hostess. She takes your order and “ food runners” deliver your plates! They start you with an amuse bouche- a tidbit of trout on a rice wafer. Next comes warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. It’s wonderfully crusty. The menu soup was unavailable but the substitute ginger carrot with creme fraiche & fresh herbs was outstanding. I chose the arancini which was generous and beautifully presented. Next, they brought a a palate cleansing sorbet - apple cinnamon with spiced rum. YUM! The entree of Berkshire pork tenderloin was deliciously tender and accompanied by rosti potato ( a little greasy) and meaty King Oyster mushrooms. Not a fan of fungus but these were delicious!! All this and glasses of wine for 2 was only $121 + tax & tip. They are not open for lunch and Jennifer was referring people to Oxford Hills which I discovered is a golf course they are involved with. You don’t have to be a member to visit the dining room. This dining room is special - I can’t believe it’s been there for 16 years. I didn’t know what I was missing!!!
Six of us went to the Tandoori Knight for New Year's. We all really enjoyed the food. Not knowing too much about Indian food, we all ordered dinners for two and were treated to a variety of delicious, not too spicy food. Highly recommended!
Absolutely delicious sushi. The best I've had since leaving Vancouver. The rice is cooked and seasoned perfectly and the tempura batter is light and crispy. I wish I lived closer as this would be a regular dining spot for me.
Went to Jesse's for the first time today. My wife regularly buy's sandwiches from them for customer lunches. I ordered the Cowboy Skillet. It was supposed to be smoked brisket, beans, hash browns, onions, two eggs as you want them and toast. There was very little smoked brisket in dish and my pet peeve, sliced fried potatoes. Please, learn what real hash browns are and make them or change your menu to say fried potatoes.
Food here is freshly made and the portions are generous. Many items include locally-sourced and/or beer-focused ingredients. There is a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and sides, fish and chips, shareable items and appetizers, tacos and wraps, as well as desserts. A daily soup offering, daily features, and a weekend special from Friday night-Sunday round out the menu. The Brickhouse is a great place to go with family, friends, or coworkers for lunch or dinner.
Great Canadian/Chinese food. Chicken balls had lots of meat in them. Moo Goo Was tasty vegetables were crisp. Egg roll was nicely cooked, not greasy and tasty. Only negative was could have been hotter. Overall a great find and will be back.
Have eaten here three times including take out. Fish is getting to be as expensive as steak and must be served quickly and Hot. Crispy's excels in quality product served hot and fresh.
Visited this location for Tuesday wing’s night. I ordered 10 Parmesan/pepper wings and my husband ordered 10 Cajun wings. We ordered onion rings to share. Our wings were hot, fresh and delicious!! We both prefer the Panko onion rings and unfortunately those weren’t available. Next time we come on wings night, we will check first about the rings. Our server did a terrific job too!!
Not sure of the date but it was not memorable. I was a guest so didn't pay but I remember my host not being satisfied with the meal.
We went to Kelseys recently at approx 5 p.m. Ordered drinks - Caesars which were very good. I had balsamic chicken, with veggies and potatoes. Very surprised that a restaurant would serve such huge carrot slices..mostly 'cores' in ea. slice!, the rice was just plopped on the plate & lots of it, but nothing in it to make it look interesting..very blah. I have never been to a restaurant serving those horrible big carrots...how much nicer the plate would have looked with beautifully prepared smaller carrot slices, maybe even some parsley on them & butter? And definitely much tastier. We ate on the patio, tables at a good distance and the waitress was very nice.
Wings are large. Standard sauces. Sometimes the wings may be overdone but overall good wings and lots of sauces and dips. Ribs are good. The rest is standard Montana’s food. Good food and fair prices. Staff is excellent and friendly
I go there for there awesome soup cooked with bones for 9 hours and served with anything you want shrimp chicken all kinds of veg. Great fresh vegetables spring rolls with dipping sauces l crave. So so so delicious everything l have ordered has been plenty for the price is huge servings l always have to take it home. Lunch special sandwiches are so good toasted and soft inside with awesome sauces everything is homemade with that unique taste of Asia. Youthful people serve you with always a nice attitude and pleasant experience. Very personal place with clean and comfortable furniture. I will never eat anywhere else l love my experience always.
Picked up a large order for friends and myself yesterday.....the most delicious Chinese food I have had in years! There was absolutely nothing to fault - the broccoli was perfect, crisp yet tender, and the honey garlic ribs had that rich tasty dark sauce (not the anemic looking stuff offered by so many other places); the chicken balls were big on white meat with a crispy thin-ish covering (no heavy thick doughy stuff). There were other dishes equally good. Everything was so fresh tasting, and the flavor overall hit the spot! The portions were generous, and my friends were as impressed as I was. If I could give 6 stars I would!
Was returning home from vacation and stopped for 5pm dinner. We Ordered a small pizza with Italian sausage and pineapple. We finished our 1st salads, then the server came out to our table and told us they added peperoni to our pizza by mistake. She asked us if it was ok, no extra charge, we said fine. Pizza came, more bread came and we asked for more salad. She then advised us there would be a $5.49 charge do to the peperoni on the pizza. Not our fault. Because of 5 hrs. of driving, could not be bothered to argue. So NO GRATUIDY.
Stopped here after a lunchtime appointment at Woodstock Hospital. Particularly chose it because they had liver and onions with bacon on their online menu. We both ordered it and it was delicious! I asked for no potatoes or bread and my husband asked for no bread and we both got our meals as requested - a first as it seems bread is almost always obligatory these days. Missed the lunchtime crowd apparently and were the only ones in the place whose ambience leaves a lot to be desired, especially the stacks of empty pizza boxes right in the dining room. Sidewalk appearance isn't great either but if you like liver and onions with bacon, this is the place to go! Service was excellent too.
My daughter and I went for a late breakfast (10 am ) and there were only two people in the front room. The one guy was on his phone and talking very loud. We sat at the furthest point from him but we could hear every word. Then a group of four came in and sat in the middle. Again you could hear every word from two women at that table. We ordered our food but struggled to have a conversation amid the noise. The waitress was very good to take our order and our food arrived in 20 min. My omelette was just ok and the toast was cold and soggy with whatever the kitchen used. My daughter was not impressed with the waffle and said she has had better. The total bill was $40 (including $4 tip) which I feel is about $10 too much for a lack luster breakfast. Suggestions: They need to add some barriers to absorb loud chatter and step up the quality of food if they want business at the rates they are charging. My family won't be returning.
Excellent food and friendly service. Definitely our “go to” place for fish and chips. We love how the fryers are out front and you can watch them make your meal. It’s like stepping back into time in a good way.
Bright sunny diner feel. Fantastic eggs Benedict with peameal bacon and homemade hash browns. Hubby had bacon and eggs. It was on special with less bacon for less money and waitress let him know( he choose more bacon) the bacon was thick cut and long. Very generous portion. Waitress ( Vicki) was outstanding!!
Do not be fooled by the exterior or the interior decor. The food is superb and worth the visit. We ordered the dinner for five although there were six of us altogether and suffice it to say that there was plenty of food to go around. One of us even took some left over food home with him. The owner greeted and seated us and was very helpful with the menu. She gave us a complimentary bowl of wonton soup for starters. The rest of the meal consisted of egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, breaded shrimp with lemon, beef chow mein and chicken fried rice. The owners told us that the food was free of monosodium glutamate. The food is not Westernized and can be ordered in mild, medium or hot. We stuck to the mild, but next time I will move to the medium. We left satiated for less than $20 per couple and told the owner that we would return. A true little gem in the heart of Woodstock. Highly recommended.!
Got the chilli cheese dog, large poutine and the creamsicle & strawberry banana shakes. Everything was awesome and the service was great. Super friendly staff, great price and hot when I got home. Will defiantly eat here again!
Absolutely the best Diner Type in Woodstock. Staff ultra friendly and there to serve. I/We eat there at least weekly and often do Take Out. Bob, Tony and Dimitrie are great cooks and will love to greet the customers. Effie and the ladies that serve know how to get the food hot and fast - every time!!! Must try Friday Prime Rib !!! Reasonably priced !!!
What a wonderful establishment! The "goodies" are fabulous - tasty, enticing to look at and served up by a skilled baker and a very friendly front of shop person. While my first impression was that the prices seemed a little high, I discovered that the treats were worth more than every penny! Since we lost "Four Paws" some years ago, there has been no where in town for such excellent pastries. It's about time - thanks Two Guys!
Our first time having lunch here since the Covid lockdown. Hubby ordered pasta jambalaya and ordered a small thin crust pizza with pepperoni, bacon and mushroom. Service was considerably slow and our server didn’t check on us, until we had finished eating. Our meals were very good!
Googled best sandwhich in Woodstock and this is where we were taken. Happened to be a pop up burger stand outside the store that day. Had the burger combo, that came with a coleslaw and potatoe salad. It was all delicious. The smash burger was loaded except for cheese, and had a homemade Big Mac sauce. It was so tasty!! The salads were both very good too!
The food was great. Small, family atmosphere was nice. Server was attentive. Will definitely go back again.
They were great at helping with vegan choices and offer veggie ground/TVP as one of the items for your dish. I ended up choosing the "bean and cheese" and was initially disappointed that there was no vegan cheese when this was offered as a vegan meal. However, they awesomely put some extra guac on to make up for it! Portions are big. It was really tasty and a fair price. Bonus cudos to the staff who checked in on us as we were about to head out, to make sure that things were to our satisfaction.
We have visited many times and found the service to be outstanding. The ingredients are always fresh and you get more than enough to eat. Ignore Taco Bell comment on another review. You can't compare the two. Love this place.
A friend recommended I try this food cart. I was a little le. ery but had amazing Greek salad and chicken souvlaki. Servings were huge and the food was excellent.
