My Husband and I stopped here after a long day of hiking around Cape North. Few places to eat were open in the area so we were glad to find this place opened and with outdoor seating (as we had our dog with us) Although fairly busy we were able to place our orders quickly and then food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I got the shrimp alfredo which was very creamy and with a good amount of shrimp. There was a healthy smattering of fresh green onions in the dish which surprised me but actually complimented it very well. My Husband got the Big Labowski burger which he declared was a good burger with bacon, onion and swiss cheese but he double patty was a bit too much meat for him. To be honest I think that was just an excuse so that he could feed the second patty to our dog! The food was good and filling and definitely a bit more quality ( and price) than regular pub food.
This was a fantastic little place that served a great breakfast - even the gluten free option was fantastic. We both had the eggs, meat, toast and hash brown option for breakfast. It was tasty, my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly and best of all, the ham was real ham off a ham-not that pressed crap. The server who took our order was super friendly and efficient. Oh yeah, we had one of the best gigantic mugs of coffee I’ve ever had from an eat out establishment. We were there three days before they closed for the season but the attitude was like they were just starting out. I would definitely go there again if I’m on the Cabot Trail!!!!
We stopped by this roadside seafood restaurant in the early afternoon to check it out after reading excellent reviews. Because of COVID, we decided to order takeout for dinner. We were greeted very warmly and advised to place orders early to ensure availability for dinner pick up. We both ordered the seafood platter and it was EXCELLENT- delicious, plentiful and very reasonably priced. We can’t say enough about the quality of the food and the friendly, helpful service. Definitely worth a meal there!
Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Main St Restaurant. We both got the 1/2 Lobster Special which was amazing. Not only did you get the 1/2 lobster in too if the delicious capellini, but there was a generous amount of lobster chunks in the pasta. The lobster and pasta was cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly, prompt, and friendly.
We were thrilled to find something good to eat while travelling the Cabot Trail. We had a delicious vegetarian pizza along with a garden salad. The pizza was delicious....it sure hit the spot after a long day on the road. We waited outside and then ate outside. It wouldn't be hard to pick up your pizza and take it to one of the nearby Parks Canada areas too.
We spent two nights at the Williams Beach house and highly recommend it. There are two spacious rooms on the second floor with private decks and beautiful ocean views. The rooms are nicely decorated and maintained with high quality linens, a mini refrigerator, large bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The Williams are gracious hosts and John is a trained chef who, in addition to our delicious breakfasts, prepared a first class dinner for us one of the evenings. (We were able to select starters, entrees and desserts from a menu provided to us). Don’t miss this place: it is a real find in a charming small town.
It is a very popular place and I understand why : cute little house, instagram decor, interesting locals craft products inside next to restaurant and good food. However, it is very overpriced for what it is. We tood the crab sandwich and lobster roll. Both were 28$ each coming alone without any side like green salad or chips. Homemade bread yes but normal size and good but nothing special in seasoning that creates a wow to justify this price. I had better lobster roll at better price and with sides in my trip to nova scotia.
They have a kids menu, kids enjoyed their meals. I had stir fry which was good and wife had a seafood dish we she really enjoyed. Service and view were also good. They charged you $5 for 4 piece bread basket which was weird for an upscale restaurant. You need to make reservations
My husband and I stopped here one afternoon after a sweaty hike through Cape Smokey. We were looking fr something cold to drink and something fast to eat - this place filled those needs. My husband got the three piece chicken and fries meal and it was a good amount of food. The chicken was fresh out of the fryer and was crispy and juicy. The fries were fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I got the hot hamburg sandwich and it was great. Not sure if the gravy was homemade but if it wasn't it was a close thing. The grilled onions set it above a typical hot sandwich. The lady working the counter was friendly and chatty especially with the slew of customers coming and going, most of which she obviously knew. It set a nice, friendly tome to the whole experience.
Great candy selection. Lots of ice cream options for everyone. Prices are comparable. Staff are friendly.
The title is basically my impression of the restaurant! I have been there several times, at various meal times over the years and I would not recommend this place as a place to eat in Ingonish. My reason for saying this in this review is: 1) the waitress could not answer simple questions about the new menu (she had a week to inform herself on what she would be serving),2) did not bring a beverage menu; we had to ask for the menu, 3) she could not pour a proper glass of water - filled to the top of the glass, 4) my Ruben sandwich was terrible - the meat was tough and rubbery. The taste of the fried rye bread remained with me for hours (not a good feeling). There are two good things I can say about my experience: the waitress was pleasant and willing to find answers to our questions and the French fries were delicious when they were hot. The only reason I continue to go to this restaurant is that our friends/family who are also visitors to Cape Breton want to eat there when we visit Ingonish.
Our initial impression was good, as we enjoyed our vivacious, friendly server and the last of nice views before sunset. The white decor is airy and approaching elegant. There were issues with the food. A few things on the menu were not available. The server recommended the seafood, which turned out to disappointing, bland and overcooked. Conversely, the other of us had the rack of lamb which was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned, medium rare. Sadly we had both had mushy, overcooked vegetables, and were surprised this restaurant would serve something so unappealing. They were recommending the Jost wines, which we both had a glass of (one rosé one red), both not recommendable. On the other side, the server suggested we share a dessert, a chocolate lava cake, which was very lovely. So hit and miss with the kitchen.
WE were told about this Restaurant by people on the Ferry.. This restaurant was very busy and has a enclosed dining area overlooking the small harbour to the East and the Ocean. The Food was Amazing and quite plentiful. If you are planning on a large supper eat early as you will be full. Lunch for 4 was $56 plus a $10 Gratuity.
Perfect stripped down alternative to two other packed local lunch places down the street or the beach snackbar window. Full convenience store plus “eatery” which is fully air conditioned 4 table cafe with silverware and china plates and short but good menu options and satisfying dishes with fresh and good ingredients. Very fast table service and look up for 2 accordions and the Olympic torch from 2009 surprising perched above!
Delicious food and good prices. We will be back. Great addition to Ingonish. This is take-out only. the food is delivered hot and promptly.
After 8 years closed it has opened again. Chef is from Keltic Lodge and has built a menu that can suit anyone. Lobster clubhouse was great! Fries are delicious. Desserts were homemade and imaginative. Super friendly waiter. Open later than most other places in Ingonish. Pub downstairs albeit very small.
