The Bella Coola Mountain Lodge is set in the Bella Coola Valley with spectacular views of the Coast Mountains. The intimate dining room is finished in elegant bear-themed décor. The restaurant offers a limited menu of locally sourced food choices. This allows the chef to focus on a smaller selection of dishes done very well. Our evening started with slices of bread baked onsite and served hot out of the oven. We then had an option of cream of mushroom soup or green salad. For my entree, I had the pesto crusted red snapper on a bean ragout with steamed vegetables from the Lodge’s garden. Everything was perfectly cooked and very flavourful. And the presentation was lovely. For dessert, my boyfriend and I decided to share the sticky toffee pudding. This unique dessert was AMAZING! The service was warm, friendly and attentive. The prices were very good as the soup/salad appetizer was included in the price of the meal. Overall, this restaurant offers a great atmosphere, great food and great value … a true gem. We highly recommend it. Reservation required. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
With a huge range in the menu from Japanese sushi to Chinese two steak the menu seem to have it all. And everything we tried was very, very good. it’s odd to come by a restaurant with such a diverse location and all the menu items were delicious.
We stopped by on one of our days in Bella Coola. I ordered the Italiano, which was packed with meat on a fresh, soft onion bun; it was perfect. My spouse had the club, including ham in the place of bacon; he was very happy. We shared a beet salad with piles of fresh lettuce and delicious candied pecans. Overall, a great find! So good!
I ate here several times for lunch this week. The fish and chips were good - I asked for pan-fried cod, which they had no problem doing for me. The place is nice and clean, unlike the Korean restaurant in town. I decided for my last evening I would get their Butter Chicken as takeout. What a mistake that was. I know my Butter Chicken, and this looked and smelled nothing like it should. It was literally dripping with artificial red dye and oil. The "salata' was this teeny plastic condiment container with a few tiny pieces cucumber, onion and tomato. An enormous portion of strangely grey-looking (supposedly basmati) rice. Needless to say, I did not eat it. Was a $24 waste.
My wife and I had dinner at Eagle Lodge twice while in Bella Coola and experienced the best service and absolutely the best food we have come across during our stay in Canada. We enjoyed lots of local seafood, my favourite being the surf and surf with salmon and prawns, and also the best steak sandwich you could ever imagine, and not to forget the delicious homemade desserts - truly a delightful find, I hope to be back again soon, next time to stay at Eagle Lodge.
Didn't get a choice of dinner meal, regardless the food was fabulous, steak cook to perfection and the jus made the meal.
