Layover time in Dallas

I will be flying from New Bern NC to Charlotte NC to Dallas and on to Guatemala. My layover in Dallas is only 58 minutes. Is that long enough or will I probably miss my connection.

Assuming you are flying all AA, 58 minutes are enough on paper at DFW if everything's on time. Of course, a longer layover would have been preferred.

Try to get a seat towards the front of the plane so you deplane quicker. Once inside the terminal, check the TV screens to confirm your gate. You might then have to take the Skylink to a different terminal.

If all elements of the trip align, you should be able to make that connection (hopefully a real connection, on one ticket), but if not, the airline (AA?) will get you to Guatemala, on the next flight, with available seats, so maybe the next day, or day after that. You don't have anything that you need to be doing in Guatemala, do you?

Now, for Domestic to International, I want 3 hrs min, but many like to cut it close, and a lot of those travelers do make their tight connections.

Hope that you do,

Hunt

When you deplane at DFW, stay airside. Check the departure board for your gate (which may have changed from the last time you looked). Find the nearest Skylink train station (2/terminal) & take the train to the station closest to your departure gate. This is quick & easy, but do note that trains run CW & CCW, so take the quickest (signs will tell you). Don't waste any time as your Guatemala flight is likely to be boarding by the time you get to it. www.dfwairport.com for maps.

This assumes: a) one ticket; b) bags checked through to Guatemala; & c) you have your boarding pass.

3 hours seem excessive to me for a domestic to international connection at DFW. That said, Hunt always suggests more transit time. There is nothing wrong with his proposal either as it's a personal preference of weighing risk vs time spent at the airport. Ideally, I would like 90+ minutes for myself.
