Why is EVA so cheap to TPE?

Setting up an itinerary for LAX > TPE > HKG >LAX and EVA air comes in about 30-40% lower than all other airlines for Premium Economy seats. The entire price for the route above is shown as $1700'ish. The next best prices (by Cathay Pacific and JAL) are in the $2500 range.

$1700 for PE rt is about the range. China Southern LAX CAN TPE CAN LAX/SFO PE RT is about US$1600. China Airlines is within that range too. That price is normal, can be cheaper in off seasons.

These 3 above airlines are always in the cheapest group for decades, they compete for business, these routes are also their heavily traveled golden routes. Flights between Taipei and Hongkong are the busiest flight routes in the world, No.1, nonstop flights and always packed. They are called Golden Routes with prosperous passengers in a prosperous region.

Make sense - perhaps instead I should wonder why other airlines are so high. Air Canada, Lufthansa, and others range as high as $7500 for the exact same route.

Presumably they still manage to sell those seats at $7500 , otherwise they would have to lower the price , at least you have a choice of where to spend your bucks.

Just booked EVA PE from YVR to TPE to SIN with a return from BKK TPE YVR.

The total cost of the ticket CAD $1516.00 which is much less than the OP's quoted US price. The next price up was over CAD $2100.00 on Cathay.

Air Canada and Lufthansa do not fly to TPE, both are Star Alliance, so if anyone pay $7500, he/she will actually fly EVA, also Star Alliance.

Some people do pay that highest prices, business and government tend to pay highest prices, it is not their money.

Actually, Air Canada does fly YVR TPE, AC11, non-stop 787 and they do offer PE on their flight.

I found out one possible reason - not all airlines have the Premium Economy class, so you get bumped to the next class for prices.

RE: #5 - The price varies as much as +/- $200 depending on day and season. I am planning on going in late March to early May. Also, Monday seems to be the cheapest day.

This is not correct. While it is true HKG-TPE is the worlds busiest international route, it is only Number 8 on the list of busiest flight routes. The busier ones are all domestic routes in various countries with the clear winner Seoul to Jeju Island.
