Guitar on Ryan Air flight, can you help me?

Hi

I am planning to fly from london to italy soon, and I need to take my guitar which is in a hard case.

I cant find what I need to know on Ryan Airs site or any recent info on forums. When booking there is an option to book another 20kg hold checked luggage, but then also an option to check a musical instrument. But this last option is £100, and its just not worth it for my short trip.

The final possibility is to book a seat for my guitar, although Im not sure if they will be ok with this?

Can anyone advise me on this matter?

Thanks

Don’t they have live chat where you can message and ask?

Yeah, Ryanair can advise you.

Pick up a phone and talk to them, not us.

I'm trying but they are being useless and just sending me to the terms and conditions, but not being clear!

https:/…fees

clear enough to me.

You could book another seat for your guitar but how much will that cost you, probably not much cheaper and even then they may insist it goes in the hold as per their conditions of carriage and charge you extra for it.

Their website couldn't be much clearer.

https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/useful-info/he…

They're probably referring you to the terms and conditions because the information is in them.

You don't want hold luggage. Unless you are willing to risk damage.

No.

Buying a seat for a musical instrument means it will fly in the cabin. It is not subject to the "one bag unless you pay for PB" rule.

Not sure what isn't clear about:

<<Smaller musical items such as a guitar, violin or viola which exceed our cabin baggage dimensions may be carried in the cabin if a seat for it has been reserved and the appropriate fare paid. There is no checked or cabin baggage allowance associated with the purchase of an extra seat.>>

Let's hope it doesn't need an oxygen mask though, eh:)

I don't see a problem as long as the OP remembers to fit his mask before assisting his guitar. 😀

the question is what happens if they do not pay to choose their seats and get random seating instead? will the guitar be lonely?
