TSA bag inspection on LAX-MEL flight.

Opened our bags on arrival at home after our LAX-MEL flight yesterday to find 2 of them had a TSA bag inspection flyer in them. It states that they have the right to break padlocks to check bag interiors..but...both our (combo lock not key) padlocks on the two bags were intact and still working.

How can that be?

You probably had TSA compliant locks on your luggage. That means you didn't really have locks. TSA (and probably all luggage thieves in the world) have keys to those locks.

They are keyless combination locks bought in Australia

There are also TSA approved combination locks. Does your lock have the two-toned red square logo on it like in this photo:

If so, it's tsa approved and can be opened by tsa, and lots of other people.

Lucky you ... we gave up buying TSA locks, they simply dissappear in the US.
