Free Wireless Internet Access - Europe Airports

I realize free wireless internet is in the baby stages across much of European cities. But when I'm flying into their airports, what's their services like? Do they offer free wireless internet inside the terminals?

I'll be at FCO, LHR, and MUC over the next few months.

As far as I remember, I've only ever come across free internet at Schiphol Airport. That was recently introduced though so maybe other major airports are following suit.

Airports without free wifi really bug me!

I was at LHR T1 and T3 last month and I am pretty sure they had free wifi. As it's still new technology for airports to offer free, prob your best bet is to check the airport websites.

Been to about 7 Euro airports last few months but can't remember any other free ones.

You really do know how to make friends and influence. There's plenty of "free" wi-fi in Europe. There's even this thingy called "3G".

yep... 3G on GSM only... a mere $20 per MB.

FRA does not have it. MUC did not have it last year.

OP originally said CITIES. I was just pointing out that OP is somewhat wrong in that belief - and that it seems a strange way to start a thread especially when he admits he know nothing about wi-fi in Europe.

The OP mentions cities in the original post, but the question is quite clearly in regard to free wifi at airports. 3G is not free, unless it forms part of your package - which in the OP's case being from outside Europe I doubt that he will have free 3G.

As mentioned, Schiphol does offer free wifi - but only for one hour which is about the time someone would spend waiting for a flight.

Currently at Heathrow there is no free wifi but the paid wifi is provided by Boingo.com. When connecting either make a payment at the initial screen or sign in if you have an account.

But those are provided by the airline. That's no different to saying there's free '98 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne in the airport...it's just you've got to pay £7000 for a first class ticket to access the BA Concorde Room and get to it ;)
