only 1hr. to change terminals at DFW?

Thinking of going to Cancun and American Airlines says they can get me there from San Diego with a change at DFW BUT there's only an hour between flights!! I have never booked a flight to another country with such a short time between legs!

What do you think?

OR other choice is US Air to Phoenix with 1hr. and about 10min.

I haven't flown either airline soooo not sure I am happy with either choice!

Thanks! Didn't really think it was a great idea at all!

Just found another possibility which would have me taking a Southwest Flight early in the AM to Phoenix so I'd have more time there between flights.

I can get there at about 8AM and the US Air flight doesn't take off until 10AM.

Even with the longer connection time, what you're proposing is really even more risky since you'll be on two separate tickets. This means that if you miss your connection, you'll most likely have to buy a brand new ticket at walk-up fare. With everything on one ticket, the airline will put on the next available flight free-of-charge.

Surely there must be other options with more time to connect?

__________

What lines?

If the OP is connecting SAN-DFW-CUN they won't need to use any "lines", they'll walk from one gate to another, or take the Skylink train from one to another terminal. I've made many connections of less than an hour at DFW with ease, including taking the Skylink.

You'd think so but nope!

WELL there is a flight with more time to connect on United but it gets me into Cancun at about 6:30PM instead of getting in at 3PM in the afternoon!

All the other flights go overnight with looooong waiting times in USA airports to arrive the next day in the AM.

<sigh> Nothing looks good to me! May have to change plans!

What dates are you looking at? I'm finding several options with AA. Yeah, it means arriving later than 3pm in Cancun but you can't have it all (travel in the same day, longer connection time and early afternoon arrival).

Just checked a random date in May and you can arrive in Cancun at 4.05pm with a 2h+ connecting time in DFW. That's with AA.

op 2002 is correct. DFW has 2 terminal connection systems. Terminal link and Skylink. Skylink is inside the security area and there's no need to reclear security at all. See below.
