Plus a $380 supplement for a Sunday departure, OMG can I be your guide - especially on a Sunday!.

All joking aside, take the $33 trip if your visit day coincides with it's Tues/Thurs/ Sun availability.

If it doesn't, get a taxi yourself at the port and whilst it will cost circa $85 each way, you can have a good old look around Lindos under your own steam at less than half the price of this particular tour. You will even be able to have a lovely lunch in one of the restaurant / tavernas and still be so much up on the deal.

Have a great time, Steve

Hi,

You don't say when you are going to be in Rhodes, on what day or for how long. Given the prices I've seen above stay well away as they are just trying to rip off cruise tourists. There are a few alternatives bookable through Sigma Travel in Sacratorous Street in Old Town, Telephone number from the UK is 0030 22410 25556. You'll have to change the code from the US possibly.

They offer a boat trip to Lindos on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for 25€ per person which gives you three and a half hours in Lindos plus the opportunity for a swim in Tsambika Bay on the return. Alternatively they do a guided tour to Lindos on a Saturday for 18€ or an unescorted coach trip to Lindos on a Monday for 14€.

Steve mentions a taxi and this would be a good alternative as long as they're not back on strike. The other alternative is to get the public bus to Lindos. The terminus is a 15 minute walk from the cruise port and the buses leave at 0800, 0900, 0930, 1000,, 1030, 1100, and 1130. They return from Lindos at 1630, 1715, 1800, 1915 and 2000 at a cost of 5€ each way. This would still give you plenty of time in Lindos but if you wanted to stay later and enjoy an evening meal in one of the numerous tavernas you could still get a taxi back. Would still save you a fortune.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Dave

They seem serious but I have never experienced their services. Perhaps you can also try a local company. The one below is based in Greece, offering shore excursions since 1965, among other on Rhodes Island, you can compare the prices and then decide http://www.achtypistours.gr/shorex/rhodes

We used them and regreted it. They left us flat. The day before they cancelled to excursion. They sent an email.. I was already on the cruise. Not everyone get's email on the ship. We did not have time to rebook.

I would not trust them again.

I agree with Steve, get a taxi from Rhodes Town and buy a guide book, before yopu travel. You can take as much time as you like and leave when youve had enough, or even better stay for an evening meal and enjoy the lovely Atmosphere in Lindos at night, I can't believe anyone can charge those prices!

If I was there at the same time Id be your guide for free! Ok well maybe for a dinner at Kalypso and a nice bottle wine, lol.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send a map and list of places, bars and restaurants., or email me at lindosbabs@hotmail.co.uk

Lmaoooo..... Thank you all for your advise!!! I was thinking on the 33 dollar one, but nevermind, they don't offer it when I'm there . We'll be from 7 am to 6 pm.... The boat and bus seem a good choice, but the private tour , hmm mm... Gotta check trip advisor comments about you! Lmaoooooo !!!!! ;D

I used the "Shore Excursions Group". They are a company out of Florida that books group excursions all over the world. You must pay the entire cost up front before you leave on your cruise. There was a mix up with the meeting time and I missed the tour. Their attitude when I asked for a refund was, "Tough luck, no refund".

I will book the cruise line sponsored trips from now on or deal directly with a reputable local that I do not have to pay before the tour.

Achtypis Tours is the best & cheap if you are touring Greece,& Cyprus . We booked our 3 tours from them when we went on a cruise last April.

Very Reliable, Takis, the manager even came to the port & met us.

We were a group of 35 from Toronto,Canada

I booked a "Best of Rome Tour" with this group because of the advertised small group tours. They showed up late and with a fullsized bus. The two other tours we booked with them were as represented.
