Sea swimming in Grenada

Hi, I wonder if anyone could advise me where best to stay in Grenada for safe sea swimming in a calm sea? I thought La Source looked fine but then noticed a review which mentioned large waves! Grand Anse beach looks lovely but does the sea get rough? We would be going in April/May. Many thanks for any info.

Grand anse is the calmest beach on the island. Its often completely waveless at night, 3-6 inch waves are common and ive never seen more than a foot, though im sure its possible in a storm. Its also very good sand, and clear water, its a real 3 mile long wonder of the caribbean.

Sandals is out on the SW edge of the island, they build a breakwater, but that area does normally have 2-3 foot waves, and theres a drop off from 1-2/3 feet isually in the sand underwater. There are lots of hotels on grand anse, cif you want luxury look at the spice isle. There is also the calabash a few miles away, their location is also pretty much wave free. A number of sandals lovers really dont want to stay anywhere that isnt a little america, if this is you, better look elsewhere, all the hotels are more locally caribbean in nature.
