Decided to try The Algarve in mid July with my wife (49 and 48). Mainly looking for advice on which resort to stay. We like a nice clean place with a bit of history and a decent amount of shops to pop in and out. Option of trips out and about and hopefully not too many stag/hen parties. Any ideas please??

112 helpful votes You have posted in the Odeceixe forum. If you want to be somewhere that ticks those boxes and have a car, then that little town would do. It is in the middle of nowhere and definitely not a tourist haunt!
You are leaving it very late to book anywhere in a holiday resort for mid July, which is the start of the main holiday season.
Places like Alvor and Lagos would probably suit you better than Albufeira, Praia da Rocha and Vilamoura.
