Hi warm enough in Oct for swim in pool and sea? which beach is best also-sandy and calm sea
Although no guaranties can be given, the chances are in your favour.
The sea is surely warmer on early October and depending on the weather it turns a bit colder in late October. There were seasons that it was possible to swim even in late November.
There is a one straight sandy beach from Adelianos cambos to Rethymnon so it will be more or less the same everywhere.
About calm or not, you can never be sure. After August the meltemi wind is starting and there are some times days of wavy sea.
We have visited Crete at end Oct on two occasions, with good weather both times. Weather may be changeable, so expect possibility of rain/cloud. Pools are generally unheated, so sea is warmer at that time of year. But being from Glasgow, you may still be OK swimming in pool ( us 'southerners' not quite so hardy!!).
