Tent Camping Recommendations

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of great sites or places to avoid for tent camping in July. We are planning July 2 and 3rd somewhere in or around RMNP. We just want to be camping in the mountains but aren't specific on the location. We are car camping and hoping to make a reservation for July 2nd and we were thinking of finding somewhere that doesn't take reservations for July 3.

Inside RMNP Moraine Park and Aspen Glen both have availability for July 2. You can check specific site photos at http://www.parkcampsites.com/

Thanks! Do you know of any that have showers at the campground?

None of the campgrounds inside the park have showers. There are RV parks outside of the park that you can buy a shower.

Both Aspenglen and Moraine Park campgrounds now have shower stalls if you have your own solar shower bag. Dad's Laundry and Public Showers in Stanley Village next to Safeway in Estes Park is the preferred shower facility. East Portal and Mary's Lake Campgrounds (both Larimer County operated) have showers.

We camped at East Portal last labor day weekend and liked it a lot. I've camped in the park before and did the shower run to Dads laundry...it is nice to have a shower daily after hiking!

Thank you so much for your helpful responses. We went to Yellowstone and Tetons last year and had to drive to the RV park for our showers so it's not a problem. We just wanted to make sure we knew of some places to go.

Thanks again!
