We've been going to Anguilla for about 20 years. Here are our picks:

DINNER

Veya - Great kitchen, serious food, and a great environment. Try to go on one of the nights when there's music.

Mangos - Quintessential beach-side restaurant, great food and service. Love it.

Blanchards - Very romantic setting with good food. IMHO the place has gotten a bit complacent and could be better, but still it's a top pick.

Hibernia - IMHO, the BEST restaurant on the island. Truly exceptional food and service. Most unique wine list on the island too. The service may seem a bit formal at first, but if you're friendly you will find Mary Pat charming and interesting. Ask her about her travels. Great stories.

Jacala - Seriously good food in a great beach-side setting. Some inventive dishes too.

Straw Hat - Charming beach-side location. Get the grilled crayfish if they have it. Peter, the owner, is a great guy.

Barrel Stay - Another terrific beach-side place. Jill is a charming hostess, and her husband Graham works magic in the kitchen. Dress in something cool -- even at night, it can be a bit warm.

LUNCH

DaVida. The beachfront view is amazing. (we were disappointed last year in the food but I'm told by friends who went there recently that it's better now.)

Trattoria Tramanto - Here again, the beachfront view is amazing. I'm sure it's great at night too but the view is so great you should definitely see it in daylight.

Dune Preserve - Bankie Banx runs it. Good food at lunch, and sometimes music too. Always music at night.

Blu at Cap Juluca - Great beach-side location and nice food.

DIDN'T MAKE OUR LIST: WHY?

Cote Mer? Others love it, but the charm of it escapes us. Not bad, but not noteworthy either. Maybe you'll like it better than we did.

Sandbar Sounds great and Facebook pix are gorgeous. Haven't tried it yet. Maybe this trip. We're headed to Anguilla shortly.

Pimms - Gorgeous setting at night. A bit pricey for what it is, and there are better choices on the island. On a different island, this might be top 5 pick. But on Anguilla there are SO many good choices.

Apologies for the long reply, but I wanted to provide some detail. Have fun!

A dozen more people will respond and then you'll be confused again. "Man with one watch know what time it is. Man with two never sure."

I'm with Islander on this - how many more times must we have the same questions on this forum ?

If I say the service at Mangos is dreadful there will be several others who say its wonderful......

Which is even more reason to post reviews in the restaurant section, so that members can see everything in one place, chronologically.

Islander...take at easy...Toms response was exactly what i was looking for..kinda like the cliff-notes & brief description. I am glad you have all this free time to comment twice with nothing but a negative response or complaint about my question, not very helpful. If this question bothers you , dont respond.. i have read many reviews on specific restaurants and appreciate everyone's time that they spent writing it.....my questions is not exactly about the places...but the ones not to be missed if we have to pick and choose.
