Self guided tour of Aruba

We want to drive around the island on our own one day. Do you need a Jeep or can you get to and see most of the attractions with a regular car?

Also, can you take the bus to places like La Trattoria Restaurant and Baby Beach to the south?

You can see most with a car but a Jeep or SUV will make for a more comfortable experience. There are loads of drainage channels in the drive thru Arikok. We followed a small car thru and he wasn't having much fun,so he let us overtake, as he was grounding on some of the dips.

I was glad we had the SUV.

I am with Badcat, on our trip in late June, through Arikok we were appreciative of the extra comfort and clearance of an SUV.

No, you cannot take the bus to the lighthouse or Baby Beach - you'll need a rental car to get there.

We always rent a car and have been able to see most sights. However, you will definitely need a 4WD if you want to go to the Natural Pool.

Our Yaris didn't have any problems with the Arikok drainage dips. There aren't many places where you are likely to go where a reasonable car wouldn't take you unless you intend to be really adventurous..
