good hotels or guesthouse for snorkeling

We visited Bonaire a few years ago and stayed at Black Durgon. Liked it a lot but would like to be walking distance to town this time but still have excellent on-site snorkeling (we don't dive). Any ideas?

The closest good snorkeling to downtown Kralendijk is probably "the aquarium", which is the old concrete pier at the south end of Bari Reef washed into the sea by waves from a storm years ago. The nearest accommodations are Den Leman, which is immediately north. The only problem with this location is that this is the only notable snorkeling attraction in the area and it's not very big. It's also easily accessible to the public, including the cruise ship hordes that swarm daily around nearby Coco Beach.

As I shared in another recent thread I really like the snorkeling along the waterfront between Habitat and Dive Friends Bonaire's Hamlet dive shop. There's a lot of ironshore rock formations in the shallows just off of shore that attract fish at shallow depths amenable to snorkelers. The line of private residences along the waterfront limit access so you're not always bumping into other snorkelers and the cruise ship passengers seldom make it this far north. Beachcomber Villas is a great small quiet and quaint accommodation with private gated access to the sea here. IMHO this is too far north to conveniently walk back and forth to town.

I'm not aware of any excellent snorkeling close to downtown, unless your idea of "excellent" is snorkeling over sandy bottoms and/or reef drop-offs at 25' depth or so.
