Get a local guide as a starter, it really is money well spent - he/she will not only take you to the usual tourist sites but also to those 'off the beaten track', all very interesting and an excellent view into real Cuban culture. Every tour is tailor made to the individual(s). PM me if you want any other info. My wife and I spent the first two days in Havana before we travelled down to Guardalavaca for the remainder of our two weeks.

I suggest you firstly get a guidebook such as Lonely Planet, Frommers etc.. They are loaded with info for a first time traveler. Also the use of a guide such as Jorge or Pototo will be quite beneficial.

Difficult to give you any advice when you give no clue as to your likes/dislikes, interests, budget, etc.

That said, here's a few thoughts to help you with your research:

1.) Steve's self guided tour around Havana:

www.7daysinparadise.com/smf/index.php…

2.) A few additional suggestions regarding arts/culture/music/etc. in Havana:

http://www.cubaabsolutely.com/

The best investment you can make right now is to buy a decent guide book. Cuba is no longer an exotic destination and all the major guides cover the country fairly well, especially Havana.

Have fun with your research.

Cheers,

Terry
