What do things cost in Cuba?

We will be travelling to Cuba for the first time in January and would like to have an idea of what we can expect to pay for things like a bottle of pop, bottle of water, bag of chips, bottle of wine, a beer, etc. We know that the Canadian dollar is about at par with the Cuban peso.

@smallworld

That is definitely not true. Alcohol like mentioned is super cheap. a liter of Havana Club white Rum is $2.60 CUC (It's $34 CAN at the LCBO)

Especially off resort restaurants. You can get a three course Lobster tail dinner at most restaurants between $12-$18CUC. Pizza dirt cheap. One girl with us didn't like seafood and ordered pork it was $4CUC lol and a big portion too.

Tobacco is another cheap item. Most cigarette brands are $2-3CUC a pack. Sorry no Canadian brands.

Souvenirs range is quite varied depending on what your looking for. Still cheaper in Cuba than Canada except for t-shirts (most are $10-15)

Sanitary and brand name items are on par or are actually more $$$

Hi,

Items produced in Cuba are usually very reasonable in price.

Anything imported is considered luxury and is taxed heavily.

Coke 1.25 = national brands 0.55

Beer and wine the same story.

Water typically cost more than the other two mentioned.

Chips and cookies usually cost the same as Canada.

If you are staying on the resort. you will likely spend very little money in Cuba.

Have a wonderful vacation,

Peyman

Pringles are also quite pricey in Cuba, I have seen cans at 4 CUC per.

Love those Pringles too! haha

To me, the only thing that's unbelievably expensive in Cuba are cigars. Liquor is dirt cheap, whether it be domestic or imported. The last time I was in Camagüey City I noticed I could buy a bottle of Chivas Regal 12 year for 18 CUC, or Glenlivet for 22 CUC. But I'm not a scotch drinker. I like my cerveza, or sparkling wine imported from France at 8 CUC per bottle.

Water - what size. CUC 0.60 - 0.70 for 1.5 litres in the shops, CUC 1.90 for 5 litres. A lot more in restaurants.

Bag of chips - pretty hard to find actually, if you mean potato products. More widespread are the puffed maiz products Pelly.

At most bars Bucanero and Cristal are 1 CUC per can or bottle. Cans of orange or lemonade are 50 to 55 cents. Prices have been fairly static for years.
