Dreams La Romana

I am travdelling to DR on Nov 15 and just found out that Dreams La Romana is to be removed from the Dreams resort hotels on Nov 20. Message on their site - Resort Update: Please be advised that as of November 20th 2018, Dreams La Romana will no longer be a resort within the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand collection. Dreams La Romana will continue to offer it’s guests the high-quality vacation experience and superior amenities of the Unlimited-Luxury® concept up until this date.

For any questions regarding this change, please contact 1-866-237-3267.

Has anyone any knowledge or know if this is likely to cause issues?

Dreams La Romana will belong to the Playa Resort Group as of November this year. The changes and transmission shall go as smooth as possible (according to their press release) - whatever this means for the guest. :-)

Best regards

The Dreams La Romana property has been owned by the Playa Resort Group for some time. Dreams was simply contracted to operate it. Playa also owns Dreams Dominicus La Romana, and Dreams Playa Palm Beach, also in the DR. Those resorts will not transition.

We were due to fly out for two weeks on Jan 6 2019 but have just been informed that the preferred adult section that we were booked into is closing for renovations. It had taken us a good while to chose a place to go in January and this ticked all our boxes, especially with the seaweed situation at other resorts and islands. We have since taken up our option of free cancellation which is very disappointing. However, as this was our early retirement holiday it’s not as great a disaster as it could have been given we have no specific dates we need to travel.

On the positive side, it sounds like the renovations they’re carrying out will be really good.

Hope this is helpful.
