All Inclusive that includes excursions?

I am traveling with my 13 year old daughter and we are trying to decide between Punta Cana and Costa Rica. I found an AI resort in costa rica that provides 1 free excursion a day (snorkel, city tour, volcano tour, zip line and atv in jungle) I have been trying to find a resort that offers some free excursions in Punta Cana so we can decide, Does anyone know of a resort that includes some fun excursions???

I don't think I've ever seen free excursions in Punta Cana. Occasionally there will be a free shuttle to a shopping plaza, but that's not something we'd be interested in.

Other than free shuttle to Casinos or shopping areas, I have not heard of any free excursions but curious to see if there are resort that do offer such a perk.

Remember that "free" only means that the cost has been rolled into your hotel charges. It's not really "free".

That being said, while the CR deal sounds fun, you may find that having nothing planned on a day or two might work better for you. When you purchase the excursions as you want, you won't end up wasting excursions you've already paid for, or drag yourself on, out of a "well, I've already paid for it" sense of obligation. I much prefer to pay only for the things I want and will use, and in PC, it's easy enough to plan these sorts of things on short notice, depending on your mood, the weather, etc. I'd find an excursion every day to be exhausting... but that's just me. I go to veg.

Can I ask which hotel that is in Costa Rica? It sounds great!

One thing to be mindful of is there is a lot more to do in Costa Rica than there is in Punta Cana. Having been to both there were many more activities and places to visit in Costa Rica (I stayed on the Pacific side in guanacaste). Although there are more sea based activities in punta cana which doesn't really work for me being really sea sick. Punta Cana is a good place to go for a relaxing holiday with some excursions thrown in. For me, Costa Rica is by far my favourite as I'm a wildlife lover and it really is incredible in Costa Rica. Also from my experience the food and service from the hotel is better (comparing royal suites turquesa with Riu palace Costa Rica).

Hope this helps a little.

Have to agree that it's not free. You pay for one/ day whether you use it or not.

In 15 years of annual Caribbean vacations, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, st. Lucia, and 3 area of the DR, I've never heard of that.

(Maybe at a Sandals, but that's out of my budget).

Couples Resorts in Negril, Jamaica offer free Catamaran rides for snorkelling, plus sunset cruises and one of the Jewel Properties (I am thinking Jewel Paradise Cove ) used to offer free trips to Kohenko (sp) Falls, not sure if they still do though. I have never heard of resorts anywhere offering daily free excursions but I too would find that exhausting and like others have said, you would have to be paying for them somehow in the rate charged..

We stayed in an AI in Barbados which offered daily boat excursions (snorkelling with the turtles in Payne's Bay, and reef fishing) plus jeep tours of the north included in the AI and our holiday price was a bargain price.

Our hotel in Mauritius offered free snorkelling trips twice a day plus two boat ride trips and we were invited on to the payable sunset cruise. Again the holiday price was a bargain; cheaper than 4* Jamaica in both cases.

A couple of times in the Maldives we have had free boat trips to see the dolohins in the wild, also sunset cruises and a trip to a local island (as opposed to a resort island) is always included.

Like Judyper we enjoyed the included trips at Couples in Jamaica.

A few months ago free trips to Saona were mentioned on the Dreams La Romana website, so quite a few people, including me, made further enquiries. Unfortunately these were only offered to people booking via the Dreams own website, and not to other customers.

Those who are making the point that all of these are 'included' and not 'free' are so right!
