Memories Splash Punta Cana

Anyone have any info on this resort. It is being listed as available for next winter? Is it a new resort or just a renaming? Where is it located?

Forgive this post if this has been asked before but I did a search and nothing came up!

Hi Sackie,

Rename of Grand Paradise Bavaro. GPB closed end of April to undergo 6 months of renovations and will be turned into a luxury resort.

The Blue Diamond Hotel & Resorts bought GPB.BlueDiamond is the hotel division of Canadian travel company Sunwing

The Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino and Memories Splash resorts are set to open on Nov. 9.

Guess no more spring break parties there LOL

Been doing some more research on it and if it lives up to what they are selling it as it sounds like it will be a nice place!

But not sure I'd want to consider it for this winter (Jan) if it is just re-opening in November.

Sunwing vacations has listed it.

I'm told by my neighbour who is an agent that the brand is very good.

This is such a relief to read as I am actively researching Royalton Punta Cana which will be the other half of Memories Splash Punta Cana. The Royalton offers suties/rooms for families as well. Can anyone comment on the location of this/these resorts? Is it in a desirable location along Bavaro Beach? How is it for toddlers?

Looking at booking the Royalton Punta Cana for March 13th. Based on the website, this place sounds like it will give Beaches a run for its money!! I've been to Beaches Turks and Caicos and loved it but looking for something comparable and direct from my wee Prairie Provincial capital of Regina, SK.

Hi LisaLuvsVacations,

It is not in the Bavaro Beach section but further north near Hard Rock.

On the map below look for Grand Paradise Bavaro which is between Barcelo and Majestic.

Nice section of the beach though that is deep and wide. Below is a pic I found on TA.

Thank you BigJim!!

I've read that Punta Cana tends to be more windy north of Bavaro Beach...can you comment on this? We went to Puerto Plata in 2008 and were sandblasted in the afternoons.

Windy as in just enough wind to not have to say "I'm dying of heat" lol.

There is lots of factors when it comes to wind. Month your going, what way wind is blowing, storm activity in ocean.

You likely will not get sandblasted :) 10 to 15 mph is considered normal.

The further north the more waves you have but the waves are nothing close to what you would find on east coast of Florida.

I been 3 times to the Bahia which is close to GPB (Just after Majestic) , once in April, twice in Sept and only had a light breeze.

Best thing to do is type "windy" in the search feature. Plenty of threads come up with responses from TA members that reside in Dominican
