Man is it really raining like the weather site says???? I know a lot of islands have short spurts of rain and sure hope thats what we are looking at!
Quite possibly. They've had some severe downpours the last few weeks and quite a bit of localised flooding. It rains virtually every day in JA somewhere on the island, but usually they're very isolated. It's currently pouring down in one part of Runaway Bay but dry as a bone a mile up the road.
Hey, you cant change your holiday so I would stop looking at the forecast and don't worry about it. I'm coming up to my 40th trip to Runaway Bay next week and not once have I ever looked at the forecast.
Flash flood warnings now island-wide. Severe flooding in areas of St Ann & other parishes :(
It will get better.
There is a low pressure system directly over Jamaica which is causing island-wide heavy and continuous rain in all Parishes for the next 2 days (maybe 3 days if it backs in storms as the low exits).
Now, for Runaway Bay:
5/19: Scattered but strong storms, mostly cloudy; rain about 0.3 inch
5/20: widely scattered but strong storms, most cloudy, warm; trace amount of rain
5/21: Scattered but strong storms, mostly cloudy; rain about 0.3 inch
5/23: widely scattered but strong storms, most cloudy, warm; trace amount of rain
5/24: scattered storms early; partly sunny, warm; rain about 0.1 inch
5/25: scattered storms late; broken clouds, warm; rain about 0.1 inch
5/26: strong thunderstorms, mostly cloudy, warm; rain about 0.75 inch
5/27: strong storms early, partly sunny, warm; rain about 0.6 inch
5/28: more sun than clouds, warm; no rain
Well, do take an umbrella and a flashlight; not so bad though
Flash flood warnings are in effect and I'm seeing some pictures that show some pretty intense local flooding. Hopefully it will pass soon.
We're off in a week. Anyone out there right now, what's the weather like?
We arrived on Friday. Been blue skies for 2 days. It rains once in the afternoon for around an hour. We were also put off by the weather forecast but it's fine.
