Taxi in Dorado or rental car...for local restaurants only?

We're headed to Embassy Suites in Dorado and I know the taxi trip is $70 each way from SJU, which is fine. My husband doesn't really like to drive on vaca and we are planning to plunk ourselves pool and beach side, and only travel to local restaurants at night - Grappa, La Terrazza, El Ladrillo, and the farthest the Ritz. There are 5 of us - can we taxi around to these local places for about $20 roundtrip? Or is taxi availability scarce in Dorado and maybe we should rent a car?

Thanks so much!

Hi. Just saw your thread. I returned yesterday from Embassy Suites Dorado. Definintely get a car! and use anyone except Fox rental out of San Juan, they are awful. Had a partial ocean view, which was very nice because we were on a high floor, otherwise you are looking at a old ugly roof. The hotel is dated, but I found it very clean and the staff very nice and accomodating. Room service and special requests came in minutes. The pool area is very nice, and they even allow you to float around on a raft. They do rent them at the hotel ($6. for half and hour), but go right down the road to the dollar store and we bought one for $2.00 The beach is small but the water is nice and calm. It is not a soft beach, rather rocky, I would recommend water shoes.

Thanks Degs! Did Embassy charge you to keep the rental car onsite? And is anything within walking distance? Like <.5 mile because we're lazy! Lol.

Hi. Yes, they charge and its a little ridiculous. the valet is $18.00 a day. but there is a huge parking garage that they used to use for the casino (before they closed it down) its maybe about a city block away and they still charge $14.00 a day for that. The lot is gated, they give you a ticket that get validated everytime you come in and out of the garage. The charge is daily, so you can come and go as many times as you please.
