Leaving belongings on the beaches

I have been reading that it isn't advised to leave ones belongings unattended at the beaches. Is there any place to put them while swimming or taking a stroll that is best? Thanks!

While enjoying beautiful Bay Rougue this afternoon, we watched the belongings of a wonderful group of Germans visiting SXM and wishing to play in the water. Find a couple that looks trustworthy and hope for the best!

There are a couple of products that you can use if you don't want to have to rely on your neighbors on the beach. One good one is the Vacation Vault. It is a small plastic safe that is big enough to hold wallet, keys, small camera and phone, and can be locked to a beach chair. It is not strong enough to stop a thief with a set of bolt cutters or a hammer, but it is good enough to stop the "grab and go" thief who is looking for an easy target.

Pacsafe makes a line of lockable bags that are more bulky than the Vacation Vault, but also more secure.

The best advice is to take as little as possible to the beach. Its better to have less stuff at the beach than to have to worry about the stuff you have. As a wiser person than me said, don't let the things you own end up owning you!

But most of all, have fun and enjoy your vacation!
