We are considering staying at Turtle Crossing villa this Fall. Any info - pros/cons would be very helpful. We have been to Grand Cayman many times and think we want a lower key experience. We don't dive but do snorkel. Also ideas about Grand Cayman vs Cayman Brac would be useful. Thanks!

I have been to both islands. It depends on what you are looking for. The Brac is waaaaay lower key than GC. There are not many restaurants. If you are staying in a house or villa, it will definitely be quiet. We stayed in a house and if I saw someone walking along the beach I hurried outside and would stop them to talk……my husband thought I was nuts….he was happy to have no one around.

The shoreline in the Brac is often iron shore, although there are some beaches, but nothing like Grand Cayman. I think there is more shore snorkeling in GC.

Did you stay on SMB when you were in GC? If you want a lower key experience, but not as low key as the Brac, you might try the other side of GC….northside or Rum Point area.

It looks like the house is on the south side of the island so you wouldn't be far from the resort….if you want a little activity. Also I would check to see what the water entry is……the south side does have some sandy beaches.

Thanks! Yes we have stayed at Christopher Columbus Condos several times. The beach is just so great there. The reason we are considering the Brac is that our traveling partners have a connection to the owner of Turtle Crossing and we can get a bit of a deal on it. Thanks for the info!

If you have a property in North Side, you should say so. I have noticed that you are always posting this whenever people want to come to Cayman Brac.

That being said to the poster that asked about the Brac: Cayman Brac has great snorkelling and is very much lower key. It depends on the experience that you want. If you want the nightlife then Cayman Brac isn't the place to go but if you like low key and like snorkelling, it's very good.
