Christmas Day 2013

We are off a cruise ship on Christmas Day and was wondering what if any shops are open and if any tour operators off the island do tours for the day, etc. Thank you.

Most shops will be closed on Christmas, most of the restaurants that cater to tourists and cruise ship passengers will be open.

If there's a cruise ship in port there will a number of taxi drivers you can hire for 1/2 day and full day tours as well as a few "organized" tour operators selling their services at the cruise ship dock but be aware some points of interest like the Fortress at Brimstone Hill and probably Romney Manor will be closed.

The beaches will still be there on Christmas - sorry couldn't help myself.

Seriously, the three most popular tourist beaches - Cockleshell, South Friars and Frigate Bay will be in full swing - the restaurants/beach bars should all be open, you'll be able to rent lounge chairs, umbrellas, Hobie Cats, Wave Runners, etc.

One beach is not necessarily better than the other, they are just different beaches with different views, different beach bars/restaurants and different vendors. The water, sun and sand is essentially the same. All will have their fare share of your fellow cruise ship passengers.

The other beaches on the island do not have any "facilities".

No need to pre-book taxi - there will be plenty waiting at the cruise ship dock. FYI - tourists are the taxi drivers' bread & butter - when a cruise ship is in port they show up in droves.

There are 2 ships in port on December 25th so there will be lots of taxi and tour operators at the port.

All the beach bars will be open and major tourist sites.

If the fortress gets a request from the cruise ships then they will open until 2PM.
